While I was working on compiling a PDF proof of some writing drafts this morning, I realized MS had "enhanced" office with AI. Without asking, without consent.

I was able to do the registry edit solution and now the AI.exe task does not appear to be loading when I go in to work on a draft.

I want to again remind people that AI is an equal opportunity robber. Your rough drafts? Private journals? AI don't care and will gobble that up.

I mostly use for my drafts but while the Compile function is very slick, it does lack a couple of key features that I required Word for. I'll have to look into LibreOffice as a backup word processor.

Stupid econ question:

So it looks like a lot of remaining inflation is rent. In that case, wouldn't you want to lower rates to increase home-building and home-ownership in order to reduce rent pricing?

@ZachWeinersmith Robert Reich just posted a short YT explainer about how hedge funds started hoovering up single family homes during the 08 mortgage crisis, and they're the ones primarily driving the increase in housing costs. There is a bill currently in the Senate to address the issue... Call your senators! https://youtu.be/q9TOGxDJ0TE?si=yfqwAbWXY_GlNRYv

(Also lowering interest rates, but we have to keep investment banks from hoarding the supply)

Got back a little commission I treated myself to, a follow up to my Curse of Strahd group portrait, I decided that my favorite Darklord-catfishing conartist needed their own little treatment because they were just too fun to play.

After dinner with Strahd, they were gifted a skeletal horse to replace a regular packhorse that had been the only casualty when his thralls attacked us afterwards.

It put me in mind of a fun twist on the old Rider-Waite tarot's "Death" card:

If I ever get so old as to no longer have a "Yeah! FUCK YEAH!" response to the opening choir of "This Corrosion" popping up in shuffle, I trust you will all do the right thing.

I am a big booster. Bandcamp was a success not just because it built a fantastic distribution model for its artists (no matter how small) but because it offered the music consumer like me a sense of being able to purchase music knowing that the artist will actually see most of the money.

Bandcamp has made a ton of money on this goodwill.

The business model is equity. The customers know that. The artists know that. Will Songtradr know that? Guess we'll find out...
