mryessir,

What kind of workstation? Is your software fully compatible with arm and the gpu stack?

I would verify that the new Nvidia gpus work well with the arm-kernel; Though I cant possibly imagine why it would differ to x86_64. I don’t know though.

Personally I would not consider any Nvidia card for linux. Simply due to the fact that nvidia may hide capabilities after the purchase. If you need e.g. virtualization in the future the flag may already hidden or change afterwards by nvidia (happend before). They will force a non-consumer card at you for this.

I am a happy linux-arm user.

mryessir,

Truck driver have timelines. It is totally okay, if they need to occupy the middle lane. Sometimes even the left lane. It is more rare then middle lane sitters.

But what is not okay is that the cultural habit of “don’t clog” has forgotten. People are ignorant shits these days when entering cars.

If you decide to travel via 100 kph and do not want to flow with the traffic, then just stick to the right lane and flow with the trucks?! This way you have the most fuel savings as well.

mryessir,

Truck drivers are running a commercial operation, I shouldn’t have to be inconvenienced so they can more easily make money - especially not when that inconvenience is caused by them not following the rules of the road.

It is about the person sitting inside the ferry. Once you work together with drivers you will change your attitude torwards them immediately. They working conditions are very difficult. Especially when they are crossing jurisdications/states.

When I am driving I have no problems eith truck drivers. They even help going onto the highway or mention radars.

The people sitting in the middle are the problem. Most of them doesn’t even accelerate passing another middle-lane-sitter.

Im driving for two decades. I did multiple years of disposition. I’m telling you: Middle sitters are the problem and responsible for most crashes on the autobahn.

mryessir,
  • running on a certified windows laptop.

Also, prob. some graphic issue or no compositor installed.

For me Firefox on linux without a compositor ist the best. Doesn’t feel so sluggish.

mryessir,

Are you One of the holy masters mentioned on the credits page yet?

That feeling when you're googling the answer to some technical question, and your own Lemmy post appears 4 results down. (lemmy.one)

Hopefully this kind of content is ok here. Up until recently, when I would be searching for some kind of technical info, the top (and best) results would usually all be Reddit posts. I was very pleasantly surprised to do that this time and find a Lemmy post instead!...

mryessir,

Google Page Rank. I heard of that myth once before.

mryessir,

People like the meme creator will turn the tides around. Perfectly crafted meme.

mryessir,

XFCE has two different launchers: alt + F2 for executing anything on your $PATH and alt + F3 for starting installed programs (I think these need an *.desktop entry). The latter is neat, because it learns what you open the most. Also, you can entirely hide the category tab by resizing it. This way you can use your arrow keys to change the selection more easily.

fliesaway

mryessir,

Very nice to hear!

The F2 version enables one to directly call scripts by e.g. issuing sh myscriptfrompath.sh. Or start a program within a terminal: st -e top. The F3 version wouldn’t accept these.

My usage is 95% of the time F3 - and I am a sw engineer. So very specific reasons.

I am really glad you liked it and prompted your question. I was playing for hours until I simply dragged away the categories 😅😃!! Now it is preserved :)

mryessir, (edited )

It is an opportunity to bind with your child. Make them face their fears playfully. Probably will strenghten its braverity.

Also, any matress needs air circulation beneath below it. Otherwise it will get warm, stinky and very dirty.

mryessir,

Nonnative tounge - I meant below grabsthetoolbox

mryessir,

Apparently you didnt read about the update process.

What you do in debian is simply beautiful:

You rock stable and once a newer package is required, you install from backports. When a the package goes to a next stable version, you can remove the backports. It will transition automagically.

Take this and put it in your pipe!

mryessir,

Nice introduction!

Modify your terminal shortcut to directly invoke tmux. Tmux lets you group terminal windows into sessions which can be easily inspected; ctrl+b s. Tmux is therefor my workspace for terminals. I use the fastest terminal - for me it is st. Tmux enables me to have an unlimited scrollback buffer; But usually one pane history is for a specific task. So my scrollback buffer is my history for specific programs.

Attaching a remote session from within tmux prevents wrong input to the remote machine.

Maybe someone is interested.

mryessir,

I really, really like your writing style. Keep it up!

Glad that you tried it! I could never describe my setup in such a nice text.

Make sure you replace the terminal startup with st -e tmux. This was the most important bit for me. (Edit: you can detach instead of closing a terminal. This way you can revisit it later, until you are truely done with the task at hand.)

Also, you can rename windows und sessions. Given that my current tmux runs for over 100 days, it is quite handy over time!

I'm done with NextCloud

Just had NextCloud denying my credentials (not for the first time). I know they weren’t wrong because I’m using a password manager. Logs didn’t say much. Was about to reinstall (again, not the first time nextcloud went bonkers on me) before I tried a docker compose down && docker compose up. Lo and behold after a restart...

mryessir,

Underrated comment.

To put it into user perspective:

Exception X with error code xxx means Y. Y should be shown via a modal dialog to the user. The state of the application has to be reverted to a valid state as error handling.

The exception/error gets logged, the user doesn’t receive a exception but the interpretation of the error is shown to him via the UI.

mryessir,

That is awesome work. Congratulations on releasing it.

mryessir,

Fixed it:

Hey, cat here. I just deserve it.

mryessir,

Using telegram for years. Its the best messenger.

Don’t have any troubles. I can use e2e-chats if needed.

I truely trust them. Besides, their Android client has the best Android source code I have ever seen. Very good resource.

mryessir,

I can block user without problems. Plus I can decide for each one my own privacy settings.

I don’t see it. There isn’t even any option to buy premium. And I just updated…

mryessir,

Thanks I see. Didn’t know other messengers allow that by default. You are right that I am unaffected.

mryessir,

Man, he’s behind a firewall. Can’t get past it.

He backattacks immediately and my pc turns off.
