I'm trying to follow all the updates about the Pope's visit to Mongolia. (A country with less than 2,000 Catholics).
This photo really captured me and I'm not sure why.
When do we frame a set of traditions, values, texts or rituals as a denomination or sect and when do we frame it as a whole religion?
How do we know that Eastern Orthodox church and Protestant church belong to the same religion but are not the same religion as Judaism? When does a sect become a religion by its own?
I’m focusing here on western religions, because as I have seen it, westerners put more efforts to emphasise these boundaries.
