Slightly odd question, but what is the 'best' piece of software that you use? Could be a publishing platform, a desktop / mobile app... anything. I'm curious to know what you all like. I think that mine is Descript, which helps me edit podcasts. Over to you!

@chris I have no skin in the game really, in fact I'm hoping to drop using either iOS or Android and buy a truly basic feature phone next time around as I can see the harm that my phone is doing in all manner of ways!

Our first rental here in 2014 was $750/m.

Our second rental was $1020/m in 2016.

Our third rental was $1350 in 2019…

…. wait for it…

Units like ours now rent from $2,000-2,200/m.

Prices for rent have nearly TRIPLED in less than a decade. We’ve been priced out - it’s a large part of why we’re leaving.

How do you get ahead, save, and buy homes in this economy?!

@britt House prices are pretty much insane in much of Europe too. I know that your case is particular to Canada, which from the data you provide, does seem extraordinary. I've no idea how we're all willing to sacrifice so much for the roof over our heads, apart from the fact that we all need one and follow the system, which encourages steep price increases over time. Soon we'll be forced to pay 150% of our incomes for housing!
