I think Konosuba's "hai, Kazuma desu" joke might be the funniest, most well executed running gag in all of anime.
Kazuma's background/side commentary in general is hilarious but the extent to which Fukushima Jun subtly adjusts the delivery for every "hai, Kazuma" is absolute perfection. I actually laugh out loud every time
@neatchee Haven’t seen Going Postal yet. It’s the British two part movie right?
I quite liked Good Omens. I was touched by how it felt like Gaiman wanted to honor his friend and he interpreted Pratchett so well in the adaptation. Season two was also enjoyable, but it became noticeable that Pratchett was the bigger influence and it’s not that easy to emulate his style. Gaiman still did a wonderful job never the less. I don’t think many could have done it that well.
Knew I’d get called out:) What I meant was the low budget, kind of stage play type of goofiness. Similar to how all planets look like Canada in low budget sci-fi.
I would love a how where it actually looks like I’d imagine it. The Fallout and The Last of US instead of the latest Resident Evil or that horrid abomination Monster Hunter “movie”.
Fallout is probably a great example. I want all the fun and cleverness and oddities and fun and social commentary and everything else that comes with Pratchett. Imagine the witches! But packaged up really really nice and neat and professional.
Oh, imagine if they nailed DEATH. Both amusing, comical, yet utterly terrifying in some ways. Or Lord Vetinari. That man is truly frightening. But also so funny :)
@yon ahhhhhh yes I totally understand what you mean. I agree I'm still waiting for a discworld adaptation that gets the same quality as Good Omens or better.
Yes, going postal is the two part one. It was very good.
Maybe I just like controversy or something, but the "stuck on an island with a man or a bear" meme is so rife with reply-guys and whatnot that it's genuinely satisfying to watch people trip over themselves to self identify as contributors to the patriarchy with not even a hint of self-awareness.
@neatchee
Also, it’s legal to murder the protesters because it’s “self defense” even if you have to travel across State lines with a gun and confront them.
@SNerd I really don't want to get started on this particular subject because it's a quagmire with a ton of nuance and complexity, but please try not to spread false information on my threads. It was never going to be murder because they couldn't possibly prove premeditation. Nor did he bring the weapon across state lines. That was debunked; it was purchased by a friend on his behalf.
That person, who I won't bother naming, is a piece of shit who should be in jail for a variety of reasons but I can't condone spreading misinformation.
@dean you ever see the episode of family guy where Lois runs for office and discovers that saying "9/11" is the magic keyword that unlocks winning? That's what I'm gonna do but with "jury nullification".

EDIT: OMFG 1701 IS THE DESIGNATION OF THE STAR SHIP ENTERPRISE (NCC-1701). TREKKIES WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?!? :zerotwoevillaugh:
Y'all, @mc_frontalot is on the fediverse! How did I not know this?
I know I shouldn't be surprised given the man we're talking about but still, it makes me a little giddy
I'm sure he doesn't remember meeting me years and years ago at a show in NYC where I was working the booth that hosted him (GGn) but him and his crew were so genuine and down to earth and legitimately good people. I even wound up beatboxing on stage to fill some empty time between sets
If you're not familiar with nerdcore or front himself, it's worth checking out. I'm not even a hip-hop fan but his flow is so unique and lyrics so niche I can't help but love it
@d yeah when I checked out their accounts I noticed that all three servers federated with poa.st, which is pretty well on-brand for the content of the replies haha
