I very much agree with this post by @matdevdug after I was forced to register there.

holgerschurig,

@nebucatnetzer @matdevdug I also like his general advice:

Hey front-end folks, just a quick note. Never ever ever ever ever mess with my browser. It's not yours, it's mine. I'm letting you use it for free to render your bloated sites. Don't do this to me. I get to copy paste whatever I want whenever I want.

Does someone know how to solve this?
I would like to git grep only in the current extension with .

holgerschurig,

@nebucatnetzer

Well, but the same applies to ALL of these functions. Use C-h f on consult-grep, consult-ripgrep and consult-git-grep. And you either see the C-u thing or two texts saying

See consult-grep for details.

And this text exists even for consult-git-grep.

And I'm fully aware that this is not the full solution, this is why I wrote "this is part of the answer".

@holgerschurig This approach only seems to be working for a few files. When I expand all my *.el files it complains about too many files.

Looks like the approach used with counsel is the correct one for consult as well.

I just "wasted" multiple hours to write a script that does the following.

  • Extract a website title and remove non-ascii characters and replaces spaces with underlines
  • Download the website as an epub, with the modified title as the filename
  • Open the Downloads directory in nautilus when it's done

The idea is to use my kindle more for reading articles because I get less distracted.
There are much easier options, of course, but I enjoyed the little project.

Die @adfichter hat sich mit @karpi zusammengesetzt um langweilige Text mithilfe von AI musikalisch zu unterlegen.
Meiner Meinung nach sehr gelungen und ein unterhaltsamer Einstieg in den Tag 😁.

I just discovered @tuxedocomputers, they look very promising as a new notebook.
I’m not in a hurry.
I’m looking for a lightweight Linux compatible notebook with long battery life.
5 years of support would be nice as well, even better “on-site” repairs in Switzerland or “pre-repair swap”.

@nebucatnetzer

lightweight long battery life linux

long battery life depends on non free firmware & doing very little

just get used to carrying a power cord

nebucatnetzer,
@nebucatnetzer@emacs.ch avatar

@dekkzz76 I wouldn’t mind non-free parts as long as they are easy to install.
Of course given a nearly equivalent option I would choose the free version.

nebucatnetzer,
@nebucatnetzer@emacs.ch avatar

@louis Ich bin auch seit dem Anfang dabei, für mich passt die Ausrichtung ziemlich gut.
Fände es aber auch gut wenn es generell mehr unabhängige Medienhäuser gäbe.

How much of a stupid idea is it to use the packages from and use them on 🤔?
Probably doesn’t make much sense when I have to recreate all the services and such.

@nebucatnetzer Running nix outside of NixOS makes a ton of sense. That's why there's a separate download for it :)

I recently read this article by @pluralistic https://pluralistic.net/2024/01/12/youre-holding-it-wrong/

When reading the comment to the latest announcements related to the by the , I can't help but be reminded of it again and again.
Apple is just being a dick at this point, and it would be for the good of its users if they would allow third party browsers and apps on all platforms.
If you don't want to use this, fine, but thinking that the EU is doing something bad here is just idiotic.
