    @LeviKornelsen my wife has been doing a ton of pottery lately. Made the mistake of showing this to her. I suspect our microwave is about to be requisitioned as a part of her pottery factory now.

    Tonight we were out in the front garden and a wall of fog rolled in like a wave in slow motion. We saw it pour in from an intersection up our street. Wild

    @breadwizard Sorry, I'm busy trying to figure out what's up with my cassette player.

    What if our accounts had a hidden "likely mansplainer" score based on how big of a portion our replies are to people who don't follow us back, and then we added a setting to hide notifications from accounts that have this score above certain level? 🤔

    nickdrawthing,
    @nickdrawthing@dice.camp avatar

    @stefan I guess it would only be based on replies to initial posts? I sometimes put out questions using hashtags and wind up striking up a conversation with people who reply. Neither of us follow each other. I'm guessing that's not the kind of interaction you're intending to filter for?

    I know rules differ from country to country, but I'm curious if anyone can answer this question, because I can't find a clear answer online:

    You're approaching a four-way intersection. Three cars coming from the other directions arrive before you do. Nobody is turning.

    The car directly across from you arrived first, and passes through the intersection. The car to your right goes next. Now it's just you and a car to your left who arrived before you.

    Who goes first?

    nickdrawthing,
    @nickdrawthing@dice.camp avatar

    @ericmpaq Good good, that makes good sense. I had not been able to find anyone discussing that particular circumstance, and whether the "first-come-first-served" rule applied or if "defer to your right" rule applied.
    The reason I was unsure was because the "defer to your right" rule seems to apply in two circumstances: when you and another driver arrive at the same time, and when there is a lineup from all sides and the intersection enters into an ongoing cycle.

    West Marches: A Setting-Out Ritual

    I posted before about how flavourless the opening of my piratey, 17th Century West Marches games have been. In that post I theorized ways to fix this. In this post: more formulated thoughts on the matter.

    I sometimes struggle with blogging. The blogs that interest me are ttrpg advice blogs, written by much smarter people than myself. I have my own blog which I enjoy using, but I often feel that I should also be producing ttrpg advice. However, while I think about ttrpgs a lot, I play very infrequently and don't have that much to say about it!
    I instead usually write about my campaign. I'm trying to give myself permission to do so, even if the posts aren't useful to others. It's just for fun!

    nickdrawthing,
    @nickdrawthing@dice.camp avatar

    I sometimes stop writing a blog post mid-way through and think "who is this for?"
    The answer is "me" and that's totally fine

    nickdrawthing,
    @nickdrawthing@dice.camp avatar

    @Xenograg totally agree. If my circumstances were different and I was trying to built a career using a blog, I can imagine being more careful about what I choose to write.
    But I ain't doing that.

    Someone at work asked me how old I am. Upon answering, another nearby coworker suddenly gaped and said "wait, we're the same age??? I thought you were like... easily 10 years older than me!"
    And then I withered up and died.

    tip from the archive: Visions and hazy dreams are fantastic ways to project clues or potential dangers. Adventurers are constantly getting assaulted by strange premonitions.

    @slyflourish I love reflections. Reflections are a great place for supernatural entities to attempt to pass messages.
    Polishing a sword, you catch sight of a face mouthing words to you through the flat of the blade. During a night of carousing, you look into your tankard and glimpse a familiar figure stabbing someone in the back. A hand silently slams against the inside of a vanity mirror, and a moment later the mirror shatters.

    I'm looking after my neighbour's kid for a couple of hours this afternoon. She and my daughter are hanging out.
    "Nick, do you guys have anything to eat?"
    "For sure! We have trail mix, yogurt drinks, apples, pears, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, cheese rice cakes, uh... chips, chocolate mini eggs... baby carrots, snap peas... anything sound tasty?"
    "No, I don't like any of that stuff. I'm gonna look in your fridge."
    We eventually settled on peanut butter on rice cakes!

    nickdrawthing,
    @nickdrawthing@dice.camp avatar

    What she really wanted was for me to shred a bunch of cheese onto a plate but I lied that we didn't have any cheese because the stuff is so damn expensive 🙃

    My own kid is super fussy too, but wow, it's hard to accommodate someone else's fussy kid when you don't know what specific stuff they're fussy about!

    I've never done an post on here and I don't have a pinned post, so here goes:
    I'm Nick. Pronouns he/him. I live in Toronto and I work in tech as a... technical artist, kinda?
    I love to run and I'm leaning more towards rules-light stuff. I play far less often than I'd like.
    I also talk about parenting, video games, and sometimes (rarely) post my art.

    nickdrawthing,
    @nickdrawthing@dice.camp avatar

    @Topofmyvoice I do love crime!
    That's a kind offer but I'm afraid I have to decline. Unfortunately when I say that I "don't play as often as I like," it's due to a lack of free time more than a lack of opportunities. I'm playing in a couple games right now, but scheduling them is a nuisance due to my other responsibilities. I'm reluctant to add in any more games and have them compete for the few time slots I have available.
    But really, thank you!

    It's been a minute; let's do this again:

    If you are a Tabletop RPG nerd and have less than, say, 500 followers (or think you have less than 500 that are actually active):

    1. Write a post to introduce yourself and your particular nerdery, if you haven't already got one pinned.

    2. Reply in the comments with a link to or copy of that post.

    3. Share, check back to find people you want to follow, all that.
