@artcollisions If, for instance, a person earned MICA's very expensive dataviz master's degree. But whatever. I will remove it. Bluesky is more fun anyway.
@artcollisions I am 99.99% for CWs but this one is dumb, sorry. Now that Bluesky is inclusive, I'll likely leave Mastodon anyway. A serious consideration for the instance, though - you risk alienating everyone who's not humorless with this sort of over-enforcement. I promise that's all I have to say about it. Have a great Friday!
In other news, I've wrested control back over my website. Sometime in 2022 my jekyll installation failed, and I tried many times to troubleshoot it to no avail. This week's workshop was the impetus for me to finally make the jump to Quarto, which took quite a while. Lots of pages to migrate and translate... I know it's still a mess, but at least it says 2024 in the footer! www.amelia.mn
I’ve been using Hardcover in beta for about a year, and I love it. It’s an excellent alternative to Goodreads with lots of great features. Check it out and upvote on Product Hunt if you like it!
Hey, folks! Just one more day left to vote for my data visualization in the Stats+Stories contest! I’d appreciate the support! 🙏🏼 https://statsandstories.net/voting
Client: I love the new charts! And cool statistics! I know we’re on the 7th iteration, but could we just get a toggle to turn on magical fairy dust? The customer really wants it. Oh, and an icon that spits out hundred dollar bills when you click on it. Then I think we’re all set!
Any #Python devs in the house? I’m getting unpickling error A, which I’ve never seen before. I searched StackOverflow already, obv. It’s esp hard to troubleshoot because it’s in a Jupyter notebook environment controlled by my professor, so I can only change certain parts of the code. TA wasn’t much help—told me to install pickle. 🤦🏼♀️
@kimvanwyk@kleaders We’re all on Macs except one of the other people who couldn’t unpickle the file. They’re a pretty smart and diverse group, experience-wise, so I feel confident at this point that there’s an issue with the file.
@eichin@willmcgugan Thank you! Regardless of whether that narrows it down, I’ve learned several new troubleshooting strategies that I’m saving for later.
