Mass shouting are 3+, but rifle shootings that makes news stories tend to be much higher 5-8+. And often times the rifle shooters are also using a handgun, so it skews the numbers a bit there too.

But really all guns and especially handguns need better control, permitting, and revocation laws.

Had a nice little foundation leak during the last rain storm. Installed a drain line last fall to divert two downspouts and front walkway run off away from the house which helped a lot. Massachusetts has had decent right to repair for a decade too. And had universal healthcare way back too. They just got legal weed recently, but like the others, cost of living is rough there. Boston, Somerville and Cambridge housing, but you’re stuck in Boston.

I rode clipless pedals for mountain bike racing (cross country). It is so much more efficient and they have shoes with thicker soles and deep treads which makes them more comfortable to walk in.

They also make jumping over small obstacles and rocks easier and safer.

it’s awesome but also a lot of work.

I bought mine after we found out we’d be having a kid in 2017. So much more affordable. It also needed rust repair and all new bushings and rear swing arms and shocks and springs and some other parts (always do new fuel lines).

The prices have eased a lot since 2020-22, $16-20k is decent now for a good body manual transmission. Campers add $4-5k, Syncros (AWD) adds $10-15k. Good Subaru or TDI conversions increase value and usability too. And the oldies all want Automatics, so they cost more too.

I have a problem though, I’ve now bought 2 others for $500 without drivetrains. One is a nice body tintop, the other is a rotten camper top. Gonna attempt a roof swap and poptop conversion. The plan is to Prius swap it, so I can have electric A/C and eventually a bigger plug-in hybrid battery to quietly coast in and out of campgrounds and do more backcountry/remote camping.

During the eclipse in April we were considering Austin, but conflicted about spending money in TX.

We had planned out how to spend as little money and time there as needed to view it, but thankfully the weather closer to where we live was unseasonably clear and we had a great view in a much friendlier state, Maine!

Bought a PS 2, Gran Turismo 4 and the GT4 Logitech steering wheel and pedals when I graduated college.

Just dug it all out to show my 6 year old how fun driving can be. Looked better than I expected even with component cables.
