partial_accumen,

There’s a lot to unpack here.

The Florida GOP earlier this week said Barron Trump, who is 18, would join three of the former president’s other children — Eric, Tiffany and Donald Trump Jr. — as delegates, with Eric Trump serving as the state’s delegation chair.

So the GOP just came out and announced it, perhaps without even asking Barron or Barron saying he wanted it.

“While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” former first lady Melania Trump’s office said in a statement.

Then mom comes in and says “no” on his behalf. So we STILL haven’t heard from Barron what his wishes are.

I’d like to think mom went to Trump and said “If you push Barron to do this, I’ll testify at your trial…you know which one”.

Welp, Rush Is dead now. Dying was the coolest thing that man ever did. 🎉

Dying was his second coolest thing. His first coolest thing was becoming a drug addict after years of being critical to those with drug addition. He even said "drug abuse was a choice, not a disease. " He was alive long enough to live that hypocrisy and experience the ridicule for it.

partial_accumen,

(Batantly copypasted from the pinned thread on r/fuckcars)

Please don’t do that. I have no problem with this kind of content in that echo chamber, but presenting it as objective truth calls into question huge portions of this that are either purely subjective to blatantly wrong.

partial_accumen,

Just because you don’t like the message, doesn’t mean they’re wrong.

So true! My agreement or disagreement is completely separate from it being (at least partial and worst mostly) wrong.

partial_accumen,

Where do they say it represents a form of ‘objective truth’?

Well I don’t see any “/s” on it so I take it on face value that that poster is presenting it as being true. Are you saying I should assume they believe its fiction?

partial_accumen,

why would you expect it from an anticar lobby sub? Like, it’s a political movement… not a scientific research facility?

You and I are in full agreement on this. I have zero issue with this content in the anti car lobby sub, except that’s not where the poster is putting it anymore. They’re posting it in “worldnews”. This is why I have a problem with it here, but not there.

partial_accumen,

I think it’s extremely invasive that amazon is telling me this

In my youth when I worked retail, I had a plastic nametag pinned to my shirt. My face was clearly visible of course.

How is this different?

even the name is too much imo, when i delivered pizza some places had their system like this, i don’t like strangers knowing that. it’s too personal.

Did you not have to wear a name tag like this guy?

partial_accumen,

UPS/Fedex/USPS staff are all wearing uniforms and driving large trucks blazoned with those organization’s logos and trade dress.

Many Amazon delivery people are wearing plain clothes and driving unmarked cars or rented trucks with no branding.

partial_accumen,

It already has. Thats why its 36 years with “1 child” and only 6 years with “2 child” before it went to “3 child”, they’re deep in deficit and are trying to catch up.

Further the new “3 child” policy isn’t just a passive allowance. The government of China is actively incentivizing parents to have children.

“An extra month off and $80 monthly stipends and 30-day days of additional leave part of a series of sweetners local governments have unveiled as China kicks off the legislative process to allow married couples to have a third child in a drive to curb a precipitous decline in births.” source

partial_accumen,

For those of us not in PA, what is the current minimum wage (its not in the picture)?

partial_accumen,

Holy crap thats low!

Is it so low that it is effectively ignored and employers even for the lowest jobs offer a higher wage to get workers or are a large portion of PA workers actually only receiving what is effectively below federal poverty wages on a regular basis?

partial_accumen,

“I don’t like the name Mountain View high school. Its too generic”

Really ma’am? So you’re rather have it named after a divisive traitorous man that fought to enslave a portion of the people that are required to attend that high school? To you generic is too offensive, but Stonewall Jackson High isn’t? Careful, your racism is showing.

Russia Victory Day parade: Only one tank on display as Vladimir Putin says country is going through 'difficult period' (news.sky.com)

On 9 May every year, Russia celebrates Victory Day, putting on a large parade in honour of the country’s victory over Nazi Germany 79 years ago - in what remains an important symbol of the country’s national identity....

partial_accumen,

Isn’t that one of the T-34 tanks Russia had to buy back from the country of Laos some years ago?

partial_accumen,

Where is his agency here?

Get a second box that is not broken. Put it next to the broken box.

Let Sencha decide which box to keep. He’ll choose the one he wants. Discard the other one.

partial_accumen,

Fuck Biden and fuck Trump both are responsible for this fucking mess.

Which permanent tax cuts did Biden give to the rich?

partial_accumen,

after Trump’s tax reductions for the wealthy and corporations expire

The Trump tax cuts for corporations NEVER expire:

“The centerpiece of the law was a deep, permanent cut in the corporate tax rate — from 35 percent to 21 percent — and a shift toward a territorial tax system, which exempts certain foreign income of multinational corporations from tax. 20 percent deduction for pass-through income.” source

partial_accumen,

I didn’t see that one on her view of trans people, but her recent one on nuclear power was nearly biased and selective enough to be called “disinformation”.

partial_accumen,

We came in with eyes wide open. We picked a specific county based on historical gerrymandering trends and political party splits.

Oh uh, yeah, sure… that’s also why I’m living in overlapping House and Senate districts of the worst Representatives and Senate representation north of the Mason Dixon line. My votes have done nothing to affect change against the tide of the gerrymandering.

Someday I hope both of our efforts bear fruit.

partial_accumen,

Your feelings about the economy don’t matter when the data all goes in the other direction

Except its not “all the data”. Its “the data we’ve always used to measure this up to now”.

The disconnect is that classic measurements of national economic health used to reflect the earning and spending power of average Americans. So using the same basket of measures and things that can affect those was a valid approach. In recent years those measurements don’t reflect average Americans anymore. Inflation has eaten away at the value of savings impacting older Americans. High interest rates are now acting as a double whammy for young Americans that need borrow for higher education as well as first time home buyers, but the costs of both have risen sharply in the last 20 years. So while the high cost has been a problem, the now high interest rates are a force multiplier stepping on the necks of young Americans.

I don’t disagree that Biden’s actions have improved classic measurements. Those are still valid and useful for where they apply. I disagree that those measurements still reflect the experience of regular Americans. Thats a problem that extra economic measures should be included when looking at the experience of regular Americans.

partial_accumen,

I hear you saying an apples-to-apples comparison to show a point is … somehow bad.

You’re gonna have to grow out of just thinking there are only two outcomes: “good” and “bad”. The world is more complicated than that. The classic indicators don’t reflect the modern average American experience anymore. They were chosen in a different time under different circumstances. They were chosen when a college education cost a couple of thousand dollars a year, a average blue color worker could buy a brand new car every two years, and a small house was easily affordable for a single income earner with the other staying at home raising kids. Clearly you can see how this is now out-of-date with modern American life.

They’re fine as a useful apples-to-apples comparison to national economic health, but today fail to show what average Americans experience.

Sometimes I just don’t know what people want.

Introduce some nuance into your worldview and that may help you understand.

partial_accumen,

Too little too late.

If you think its too late to stop the worst possible atrocities, I envy the limits of your imagination.

partial_accumen,

I still don’t buy Goya products to this day. Its not even hard to avoid. There’s always another brand for the same product. It makes the choice when shopping very easy.

partial_accumen,

So you’re gonna stop sending them bombs, then, right?

He’s already stopped sending big bombs 2 days ago. source

I’m quite ready for him to stop sending any more anything.

partial_accumen,

Striker,

I know you were always concerned about it and feared rejection so I honored your wishes to never speak of the events while you were alive, allowing you to live your way. However, with you passing I believe I can share with the world the beauty (and horror) that you brought upon the world free of judgement and felony charges.

It was 5 years ago beginning with 23 drinking straws, a roll of duct tape, a fresh hair cut, 4 kilos of thermite, a very fetching scarf, and a copy of the Dialogues of Plato. You didn’t begin that evening planning to change local laws of Ann Arbor Michigan, but before the night was over, you certainly did…

partial_accumen,

The right-wing religious nutter or the Russian FSB agent?

The right wing nutter. He did the bare minimum to enable support to Ukraine. That’s more than the Russian FSB agent ever did.
