TIL that the second highest division in Dutch football is the “Kitchen Champion Divsion” and I can’t quite decide whether that is genius or dumb.

(This is due to the name being sold off and apparently an outfit selling kitchens having plenty spare cash here …)

The one time I convince myself “This is important, don’t procrastinate, call these people now!” they of course respond with “Oh, the responsible person isn’t here today. Can you send us an email?”

Goodmorning. Two poorly served railway lines in Bourgogne have been on my watchlist for years, and thanks to the long weekend and a very good deal from Eurostar, I finally managed to put them in a plan. Don’t expect a lot of trains, it is SNCF after all. First step: going to Paris

Red Eurostar arriving in Rotterdam Centraal.

partim,
@partim@social.tchncs.de avatar

@smveerman Might Gare de l’Est be the only decent Paris main line station?

partim,
@partim@social.tchncs.de avatar

@smveerman @wmd I keep meaning to go to Paris and have a look at all the changes but I also really don’t want the whole Eurothalys experience.

Might this perhaps be good news? Or it is just marketing BS?

Ah now I notice it was May 12 last year…

partim,

@tml Wasn’t it around that time that some of their services became reservable through the Interrail site?

I’m on a TER ZOU ! X TER (the DMU Railcoop wanted to use) today serving Miramas - Marseille ligne de la Côte Bleue

@smveerman @jon @patrick It’s certainly an important railway junction.

problems: where should I go 27–31 July with my last remaining days? Trying to avoid any sports events (Olympic, football) and/or huge crowds.
Sound like ?

partim,
@partim@social.tchncs.de avatar

@kupfers My standard answer to spare Interrail days always is: UK.

partim,
@partim@social.tchncs.de avatar

@kupfers Admittedly, I have the Hoek to Harwich ferry which is perfect for an after work start and similarly priced to Eurostar.

The west coast of Jutland is pretty nice.

Norway and Sweden are kind of annoying with their mandatory reservations and probably super busy in July.

partim,
@partim@social.tchncs.de avatar

@kupfers Hm, going through countries in my head: Switzerland may be in option. You certainly get your money’s worth with Interrail. Jura or western Vallais are quite underrated in my book.

NS is running woefully short trains at rush hour again, so I decided to pull my emergency stunt of typing “brewpub” into Google Maps and see what happens.

My main takeaway from the @rustnl conf as a test engineer who has just started their journey: these people really like their fuzz testing.

@joeposaurus @rustnl It’s stupefyingly easy, too. Install cargo-fuzz, derive a trait on your stuff, run a few commands and you’re off to the races. Magic, really.

@jon @wrzlbrnft I have no idea how international tickets work any more.

partim,
@partim@social.tchncs.de avatar

@jon Checked now. The trip was in September 2022. I don’t have the actual ticket any more, but it cost 7.60 from Cuneo, so unless they increased prices since, I want to say it was to Tende, not to Olivetta.

partim,
@partim@social.tchncs.de avatar

@jon Cuneo – Olivetta is 8.20 now, so it is possible that I bought that and there was a sixty cent price increase since. But then, Cuneo – Tende would have been an international ticket and might have been more expensive than a domestic one for the same distance.
