katerberg, to LEGO

We are looking for storage solutions for a current collection of about 10-15k blocks with a goal allowing a 4 year old to keep them organized and have easy play.

Thinking big stack of shallow tubs that slide out by color.

Thoughts?

@katerberg isn't the point of lego to be a giant mess and create stuff out of the chaos!

Busy day pen plotting, wrangling a nightmarish sublimation printer firmware update procedure - and chatting to visitors at

We changed up the studio layout so that I wasn't tucked behind the door, and I felt a lot more energetic interacting with folks, as a result! Also, made my first small sale of a pen plotted piece 💚

@andypiper printer. you mean those things that words on paper come out of???

pavsmith,
@pavsmith@theblower.au avatar

@andypiper you're going to need 2... maybe 3... ink cartridges for that!

“Going to the office is no longer a necessity. It's a choice. And we wanted to know what, if anything, would cause people to voluntarily choose to go back to the office when the entire rest of the world (including the comfort of their bed) beckoned. And we're happy to report that the results are in:

Mostly no.

Recall that we went absolutely all out – we did everything possible to make the office as attractive as we possibly could. Drinks delivered straight to your desk. Gigabit wifi. Call rooms. We took this concept further than any company reasonably could at scale, to leave no stone unturned.

You heard it here folks:

The office is dead.”

@drahardja at this end i have typically been in EMEA wide teams. up until COVID travelling for work was de rigueur. tuesday morning clear the inbox, taxi to airport, flight to CPH, hotel, dinner, sleep. next morning, check out, taxi to customer, 1-2 hour meeting, then repeat yesterday in reverse. home for a late dinner.

nowadays my calendar is stuffed with meetings form all over EMEA, loads of them back to back. are they less effective than being there in person? simple answer: no.

another unforeseen benefit. we now form engagement teams from the "best people for the engagement" rather than "who is in your location". this "forming, storming, delivery, and shutdown" model has resulted in much better outcomes and quality.

anyway, the office is dead.

Why is it that we keep blaming our kids' depression and anxiety on social media and smartphones instead of the fact that we've turned the entire planet into a burning dumpster fire for them to deal with

pavsmith,
@pavsmith@theblower.au avatar

@flargh i will reiterate my position on this. sometimes depression and anxiety are not based on things that are happening. this upsets people who have long term mental, untreatable, issues. please be nice.

It’s approximately one year since the peak of the enshittification of Twitter and the big Mastodon influx. Let’s ask again: What is your main microblogging platform? Boosts welcome.

@rolle @pyperkub if that's the definition of "Microblogging" then 100% it's Slack, at least during the week.

also a lot of my content on Mastodon and TwiX is conversations with people, rather than "prepare for the wisdom of Pav!".

I see a story referring to “MTG”, and I think it’s about Magic the Gathering.

Why can’t it be that.

pavsmith,

@andypiper terrible game. proper roleplaying much better. much like tory politicians at the moment!

pavsmith,

@andypiper MTG was bloody awful. a way to impoverish teenagers. much preferred roleplaying.
