I have to submit a document for employment and they want my passport but my passport photo is 5.49 MB and they say you can’t upload anything more than 5 MB. How can I shrink that file on my android phone without paying some service?
Any photo editor will do. Just load it in and export as JPEG or smaller resolution.
On f-droid:
Pocket Paint is crashy for me, but it gets the job done.
Imagepipe has a bit clunky interface but just to load and export it works fine. Its primary advertised purpose is to remove metadata from photos, so not a bad thing to have on hand anyway.

Well since posts are numbered sequentially, you could archive all of them by generating the links. Tiny issue is, this would include every post that was federated with the server, which is almost 2 million it seems. A bit overkill for a relatively small instance.
I think if you filter by local on the main page and click next until you get to the end, there aren’t that many pages. You could save those with outlinks.
Also, I believe, the posts will live on on other instances regardless.
I have LineageOS installed on my phone and it has almost weekly updates. Since the device is quite budget, I believe its memory can be damaged by such often updates so I’m not updating it for 2 months already. But there are security fixes and patches in newer versions so I do want to update. My question is: do I have to...
AFAIK LineageOS updates supply the whole system every time, that’s why it’s always so large. You should be fine skipping a couple. (fine in this way anyway)
That being said, I really doubt you could ever write enough data to harm the mass storage or RAM of your device before you have to switch phones because it stops being supported, or you drop it on concrete, etc.
Sources vary, and admittedly I didn’t research this thoroughly, but even old articles say that flash memory (which is what almost all smartphones use, I think) is expected to work for 10,000 or 100,000 complete writes. That is just sooo much data, even if your phone only has 16GB or something
You should research more on this, and decide if it will be fine for you for the next X years you wish to use this phone.
2 + 50% means that 51 + n people upvoted and 50 + n people downvoted, where n is a natural number. Making the % (x): 50% < x < 50.50%, where x is rounded down to 50%.
A smartass and wrong! You obviously messed up thinking OP’s initial upvote wouldn’t count towards the percentage. The correct formula is n + 2 upvotes for n downvotes, which makes 0.5 < (n+2) / (2n + 2) < 0.505, solve for the smallest possible n₀ = 100, giving us 102 + n upvotes and 100 + n downotes

Now, I’m a weirdo, so I actively avoid as many features as possible, but my life would be so much easier if I just kneeled down in front of chrome, and enjoyed the myriad integrated features. Or if I just found out what the F mozilla pocket is.
[SOLVED!] On an Android phone is there an open source method of compressing files?
