I'm wondering the same. I assume you have control over the domain name so you can further customize your username but not sure what else there is to it.
I can't quite pin down why exactly, but I've pivoted hard towards self-hosting these past few months. My biggest issue at the moment is finding a Gmail alternative.

How much of a good idea is to have my own instance just to have my account?
I'm thinking about deploying my own instance where I'd be the only user and most probable I won't have any communities....
what web browser do you use and why?
I use geh Firefox forks mull and fennec, I occasionally use vanadium. I just like privacy but tor is overkill for me
