We’re having (McCain) French fries, omelette and salad, which to me feels like Lunch at a Cafe rather than Sunday dinner

Good morning! I ended up falling asleep on the sofa even though dawn was breaking. Tom came down at 7am and found me sleeping in full daylight with the blinds open. I went up to bed and slept some more, I think I’d still be asleep now if I wasn’t going out. How did you sleep?

We started feeding Miss Cinnamon a pouch of wet food instead her usual diet of just biscuits as she seemed a little constipated and we wanted to up her fluid intake. WTF is in Sheba? She goes crazy for it and demands more. She’s learned the word really quickly too

Just spent a fun hour planning a hypothetical mixed methods, sequential exploratory study as a pre-interview task for next week’s employer. I am just a research methods nerd. It was great to be able to apply learning from all the training courses I’ve done over the past 8 months. I will particularly want to find out at the interview what they mean by “hybrid”, it would be very expensive to go into the office every week as it necessitates an overnight stay. And the pay is… not great

I got seen, but told to make it brief, which annoyed me as I had arrived ten minutes before my appointment. Luckily I only needed an extension of my fit note. All done now, still raining on the walk home. Happy to be inside and I’ve just put a snuggly jumper on

Apparently I was sent to the wrong waiting room and now there is doubt if anyone has time to see me. Grr

I started reading a new book last night, it’s an alt history speculative novel about what might have happened if the moors had not been driven out of Spain but had “discovered” the Americas instead of Columbus’s party. It’s an intriguing idea but I’m not sure I’m into the writing style

Ooh I’ve gone really tired now after this rather intense afternoon

The warm fuzziness of a good sleep has worn off and I’m back to anxiety about psychiatrist appointment and the job/PhD situation. Tom is so against me interviewing for jobs, but my friends (including those working in academia) and life coach think I should keep my options wide open. So I think I’ll do the job interview this afternoon, I probably won’t get it anyway and interview experience is always useful. I’ll worry about whether to take it IF it’s offered! I can still say no thank you, right?

Psychiatrist all good, he has concluded that my rapid mood shifts a few weeks ago are best explained as mixed affective state (as opposed to something “more pervasive” like personality disorder, a label I would have vigorously rejected). He told me he is leaving, he’s a locum and they’ve filled the permanent post. Yet another new doctor to get to know sigh Ooh, also he’s letting me try melatonin for sleep! No ones ever been willing to prescribe it for me, and you can’t buy it OTC in the UK

Good morning, I had a long, deep sleep which I must’ve really needed. Dreamed I went to the chip shop to get fish and chips for a group of us, but they gave me a very fat live seal to carry home in my arms instead 🤷‍♀️ What’s up with you today?

It’s no good, I’m going to have to listen to Raspberry Beret again

I am so confused and don’t know what to do with my life. Tom thinks I’m still at least “fragile”, if not outright ill, and that I shouldn’t be making any decisions but in three weeks I have to state whether I want to go back to my PhD studies, take more time out or…leave. I feel utterly disconnected from my PhD, even though I was loving it for the first 6 months. I feel no joy when I think of my research, nor dread, just - nothing. Numbness. When I think about getting a research job outside of academia instead I feel excited, but most jobs are hybrid and Tom doesn’t believe that I could cope with travelling down to London to work in an office, necessitating a 2-3 night stay away from home. I don’t know what to think

I like immigration. I like not to have serious skills gaps in our services. I like mixing with people who grew up in other countries. I like being enriched by other cultures. I would like the feeling that my country opened its arms to people fleeing terrible situations elsewhere. I don’t understand why other people don’t think like this

Morning! I was awake a lot in the night then this morning I struggled to get up. It’s a lovely sunny day again, we’ve got some gardening to do and we can eat lunch outside again, love that. Anyone got any amazing Sunday plans?

I’m going up to bed to read and meditate. Before I do, here are my

  1. My daughter is enthusiastic about the plans I’ve made when she visits next weekend
  2. Wild roses and strawberries
  3. I enjoyed finishing Dominoes by Phoebe Mcintosh

I’m having a super lazy day. I’ve got homework for my life coaching process but I’ll do it tomorrow in a deep work session. Right now I’m just lying around on the sofa snuggling with the cat. I don’t even need to cook tonight as we’ve bought dinner.

Been for a walk into town to buy bread. At the end of our street there are some wild strawberry plants, there was one teeny, tiny fruit ready which I plucked and ate, such a delicate flavour! Around the corner is a wild rose bush, it smells heavenly right now. A rewarding trip.

So much for ease and grace, I fell asleep again and have only just woken up at midday! Maybe that’s what I needed to be easy?

Up early, I’ve meditated at dawn, designed a card for my dad, had breakfast and now I’m snuggling with the cat. I’ll go out for a run at 7am. The intention I set for the day is to move through it with grace and ease. Good morning!

#3GoodThings for Saturday

  1. Smashed avocado and griddled halloumi for brunch
  2. Hilarious convos with my bestie in the car
  3. The pure escapism of a Broadway musical about a Broadway musical

In bed, scrolling the socials. I just watched the first episode of a Netflix show with Tom, it was…bad. He will watch any nonsense to pass the time, I would rather be on Mastodon than watch crap TV. To me, that’s much more of a waste of time than gaining little insights into other people’s worlds

Evening folks! I had a grand day out with my bestie and some other friends turned up at the theatre to watch 42nd Street. Never seen such rapid foot tapping! The musical has a lot of familiar songs and was very humorous. I would say, light on plot, strong on glamour. Tired now and looking forward to my bed.
