I have found the old dr who unwatchable (not because of ads). sometimes it feels like they hate their audience. surprising because I watched tom baker when I was a kid, on public tv.

"We have a lot of people who want that one, and will be very good at it. But he’s a very talented guy," Trump said of Texas' far-right Attorney General Ken Paxton while speaking to Fox 4 Dallas Fort Worth at the NRA convention.

"I fought for him when he had the difficulty and we won," Trump went on. "He had some people really after him and I thought it was very unfair. He’s been a good attorney general."

The "difficulty" Trump was referring to was the alleged "bribery, abuse of office and other crimes" that Paxton committed according to several high-level assistants."

"He was accused of taking bribes from a political donor, misusing publics resources, and several other serious misdeeds.

Paxton was impeached for the alleged crimes along bipartisan lines in May 2023. In September 2023, he was corruptly acquitted by the Republican-controlled Texas Senate.

Despite the acquittal, Paxton is still being investigated by federal prosecutors for the alleged crimes. He could end up behind bars before this is all over — much like Trump himself.

Trump approves of Paxton being a crook because it makes him more likely to obey any future authoritarian commands and means he'll be more willing to break the law to enforce MAGA fascism.

Beyond that, Trump loves that Paxton is deeply sycophantic. He showed up to support Trump at his hush money trial in New York and called the case a "sham of a trial" and a "travesty of justice."

This is a match made in hell and an unprecedented threat to the rule of law."

"NPR looked at foreclosure data across several states where records were available. In New York, NPR found at least 10,000 old second mortgages that foreclosure activity had been initiated on in just the past two years. Those loans originated back during the subprime-lending housing-bubble days of 2004 to 2008.

In Maryland, where more detailed information was obtainable, NPR found at least 500 old second mortgages that had been in default and unpaid for more than a decade but now a company has taken the first step toward foreclosure. In other words, more than 500 zombie mortgages in a single state that are now coming back to life as companies file a form with the state indicating they intend to foreclose on the property.

"The numbers to me are very scary," said Andrea Bopp Stark, an attorney at the National Consumer Law Center who has been looking into zombie second mortgages. "
