Hey, / readers, followers (people actually follow me?!), and peoples on the fediverse!

If/when I finish a new multi-chapter fic, would you like a post on here when I release every chapter? Generally I post weekly.

To keep things light here, I would probably default to posting here only once it's done, and maaaybe when I post the 1st chapter.

Thoughts?

Not true...

Although... when American writers have British characters putting CREAM in their tea????????????????

readingchameleon,

@caronallan I don't like tea/coffee/etc, but lotsa people I know over here put milk in their tea, not cream haha

13 Do you ever write very short pieces (fifty words, flash fiction etc)?

I have written many flash stories especially Drabble (exactly 100 words) and back before I came to the fedi I wrote a lot of TwiterFic (128 characters or less). Two of fandoms I wrote in had elaborate symbology to help. "Bloom into You," and especially "Otherside Picnic."

Below is a guild I made for people unfamiliar with our shorthand.

readingchameleon,

@NaraMoore I haven't tried it, no! For me a 'short' fanfiction is ~2-3K.... :P

#Writing 8. Do you write your entire piece and then edit, or go back and edit while you’re still writing?

I write chapter by chapter. Each is it's own file. I try to keep a minimum of 2 chapters in post-beta form as backlog; 2 chapters in beta; and a bunch in various stages of drafting. I will go over each chapter pre-beta a minimum of four times spread out over time. So I am writing and editing all the time.

@botanica

readingchameleon,

@NaraMoore @botanica I write everything in in a single file and then proofread afterwards. I do re-read what I've written previously though when I start a new session, and sometimes that will entail some minor edits.

Only once I'm done writing do I then figure out where the chapter breaks go :P

30/1. What genre(s) are not your thing?

Sorry, I am going to use Japanese nomenclature. I don't think Western nomenclature quite captures my limitations.

I have no interest in Shônen literature. That is writing that is intended for males ages 10-18.

readingchameleon,

@NaraMoore Romance really isn't my thing at all.

I can stomach a subplot, but I can't usually manage anything that focuses on it.

This is why I generally write all my fanfics to be gen.

readingchameleon,

@NaraMoore Ahh I meant no offence! Just a personal preference :-)

I'm sure a lot of romance fics including yours are very well written :-)

How often do you ignore your editor/proof-reader?

I don't have these things. Do have beta readers. I only use people whose judgment I trust. So I follow their advice about 90% of the time. Sometimes I disagree other times the fix would be too disruptive.

readingchameleon,

@NaraMoore not sure, since I don't currently have a beta/proofreader :-P

But I do proofread my own fanfics. I put them on my phone and make highlights & notes for things that should change, but I ignore my own notes about ~10% of the time mayenbe?

readingchameleon,

@NaraMoore Thanks, it's great to be here!

A beta reader does sound like a great thing! It's amazing the number of incoherent sentences and typos I catch when re-reading...

Aaa thanks! Good to know not doing anything completely majorly wrong :-D

Thanks again!
