Quick question I may have asked before (but if so, don’t recall): How long after applying to a position at a big company would you give it before you’d take no contact as meaning they’ve passed on you?

I chalk it up to a spot they were obliged to post but had already chosen someone internally for it (such was a place I worked at for years in other depts). But it’s head-shaking every time.

And: There’s a special circle of hell for drivers who see a long line of cars waiting to head to, say, an onramp, who then pass by the line in the next lane over and then push their way into the onramp line farther up, thereby simultaneously not waiting their turn plus making the wait even longer for everyone who is waiting their turn.

The same commute across town, on the same days of the week, can vary wildly for timing. Literally 30-40% longer on just some evidently random days.
No accidents on the way, no problem situations, presumably more or less the same volume of vehicles (I mean, that’ll ebb and flow to a degree, but surely not 30-40% so often)…
