Really hope it doesn't get delayed but also wish for both the staff not to have mental health issues or us to get another unpolished game released to us.

From what I found, a lot of the people who join Threads, wouldn't have even looked into joining the Fediverse in the first place. If anything, Threads is bringing the concept of the Fediverse to more people and some of those people may find that Mastodon and the rest of the Fediverse could be what they prefer, especially if you can still talk with your family and friends on here.

Threads are stuck behind dealing with their investors as we can push the Fediverse with new updates all the time

Should I create a Video Explaining the Fediverse to those that don't understand it?

So many people are just plain not explaining it correctly on Threads.

Over 8 months ago now, I started using the Fediverse, messing around with different instances.

I'm glad I've found a pretty good instance of Mastodon.social instead of using Lemmy, Kbin / Mbin or other things like PixelFed.

I'm not saying I'll not use these in the future, but I want a main account for the Fediverse to help bring family and friends in as well as learn the basics & complex parts of the fediverse.

Who knows what I'll see & do.

@asklemmy How could users Monitise themselves on the Fediverse?

As people possibly move across to the Fediverse to find alternatives, we have to question how people are going to make a living on this amazing platform.

Can it be fully run by donations or is there a better way for people to be paid across the Fediverse?

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

I agree with the Ads side of things. That's why I was asking if there was any other sort of model that people could use. I guess donations are probably the only thing that people could widely use.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

That's fair enough, Yeah love Ko-Fi as I run one for an Org that I helped create.

I guess Ko-Fi and other alternatives could be a good way for people to earn money without all the other crap that normal social media has.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

So what's the motivation of Creators coming to the Fediverse? How is the Fediverse going to grow for more people to want to donate to the servers and keep this amazing thing alive.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

People make a living online everyday through TikTok, YouTube & even Instagram.

If the Fediverse wishes to make not only a space but a better place for those who use it for personal use but also those creating great content, then we need a way for them to earn money well not taking away the great benefits of no ads on the Fediverse.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

That would be a very cool idea if it could be done across the Fediverse but annoyingly it might only be per-instance especially as most probably don't want to deal with Transactions across ActivityPub as that could get shady real quick.

Good idea though as it would be amazing to spread the cost between the instance you and the receiver are using as well as the person you are donating to.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

Thank you, Yeah Donations seem like the only way people can really do anything massive, well not taking away from what the Fediverse is and needs to be. An ad-free, free speech place that doesn't take your data.

I'm sure people who move from Video based platforms could also take sponsorships like they normally do across YouTube and Twitch.

It would be nice for the Subscription platforms like Ko-Fi to have some sort of way to integrate your posts into the Fediverse in the future.

samxavia, to asklemmy
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

@asklemmy What do you think it would take for people to drop Twitter & Reddit and move to the Fediverse?

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

A lot of those people would need to go to there own instances that we would be able to block due to policies on most mastodon instances aligning with Trans Rights as well as other LGBT+ people being safe.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

Would it be best for Bluesky to then take all the celebs & public figures and work out a bridge between protocols, making it hopefully possible to see their stuff on Mastodon and other places?

As users can then choose if they want to use Mastodon or another alternative like Bluesky.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

Yeah, tbh with all of what has happened on both of platforms, it's sad to still see them alive.

Hopefully, people slowly start moving across or they're some huge outage that happens in the future as it doesn't seem like many more people are willing to move across (at least from my experience).

Who knows, Threads may help the future of the Fediverse with the amount of users that could see the possibility of it across Mastodon, Lemmy and many other instances.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

I'll try to do just that then. Stay active and make this place full of content for people to enjoy.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

And how do we get everyone else to do it?

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

To have actual content on here. I hate having to switch between the Fediverse and normal Social Media to get updates on the niche things I enjoy.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

Yeah, I get what you mean. It would be good to get more niche communities involved. It's good to see like-minded people, but it's always good for someone to have another opinion that can back up their views with facts.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

I read something about ActivityPub 2.0 being pushed for more feedback from the developers of Instances talking, so hopefully that brings more talk and direction between instances.

Lemmy would be amazing if it had some unique communities that people have been looking for, for years on Reddit. It could be a way to get Lemmy to grow.

I know there is crossover between places like Mastodon and Lemmy as at the moment I'm using Mastodon to talk to everyone on Lemmy but certainly could be improved.

samxavia,
@samxavia@mastodon.social avatar

So Threads? That's getting progress on coming to the Fediverse. Guess we would have lots more people join through that.

I've been writing a book about my experience moving from Android to Apple lately.

Maybe I should also write something about the Fediverse.
