What is something you can’t live without, technology wise that saves you time?

I have to say it’s my virtual assistant I’ve made. It saves me a lot of time with making reminders and such alarms for meetings or interviews, music etc.

@asklemmy

scytale,

Password manager (saves time typing passwords) and adblocker (saves time wasted on ads and of course malicious content).

scytale,

Even the people I know who watch movies/shows on their phones do it on landscape mode.

Bose introduces their new Ultra Open Earbuds. “Their cuff-like fit leaves your ears totally open so you can still hear the world around you”

scytale,

It’s primarily for safety, like walking outside so you’re aware of your surroundings. As for critical listening, an open soundstage is more accurate to the original sound than closed headphones.

scytale,

There’s a difference between using closed-back noise-cancelling headphones in an office or plane and using open-back headphones or bone-conduction while riding a bike or running so you can hear vehicles and other runners/cyclists around you.

Open-back headphones are not just niche usage. They are also used for music production, watching movies at home (feels like you’re listening to speakers in the room with you instead of small headphones), and gaming (open soundstage makes pinpointing sound around you like footsteps more accurate).

scytale,

interesting. Not really sure if I’m gonna go see this version, but I can see the appeal. I hope they release the original on digital already so I can watch it again at home.

The 2024 Golden Globes red-carpet official digital pre-show with Variety's Marc Malkin and ET's Rachel Smith.

scytale,

I already said this on the other golden globes thread, but this entire pre-show was a mess. Random/wrong cuts, wrong timing on the host cues. The dude host was either too nervous or had too much caffeine and his interviews were awkward and had a lot of dead silence. They ran out of things to say with 2 minutes remaining.

scytale,

The Variety/ET pre-show was a dumpster fire. And Jo Koy is bombing the hosting job too.

Star Wars actor Adam Driver joked that "wokeness killed Han Solo" during his monologue on Saturday Night Live over the weekend.

    scytale,

Yeah. Say what you want about the prequels, but at least they were cohesive, and they had a vision.

    scytale,

I work with people from India and China on visas, and a lot of them are waiting a decade or more for permanent residency. I’m fortunate to come from a country with relatively fewer applicants so got mine in a little less than 5 years. I can’t imagine the stress of having to wait 10+ years not knowing if you’ll ever be approved.

On one hand, I love me some scifi. On the other, it’s Zack Snyder.

What do you call the plastic or metallic bowl used to take a bath without a shower? @asklemmy

It is a hand held device used to get water from the bucket or a bigger tank to poor it on oneself

    scytale,

Yep, it’s widely known in English as a dipper. It’s called different ways in Asia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabo_(hygiene)

Ecosia, is it really so private?

A article about if Ecosia is really a private search engine.
I did spend a lot a time to analyze and investigate Ecosia, I hope this article helps people to better understand how private is Ecosia really and which are the downsides of it. Is the first article I ever written, so it isn't perfect. I'm open for feedback!

Great writeup! I like how you broke down the privacy policy piece by piece. Good luck on future articles!

From what I've seen from Euphoria, the cinematography is really good, but between the gratuitous nudity, and S02 sucking, I don't want to watch it. Are there any shows that were shot in a similar way?

    scytale,

    Fargo and True Detective.
