Only a few pages in, this is already one of my favorite books of the year. Brilliantly written, an easy read yet so full of crucial perspective. #books#bookstodon#reading#literature#feminism
Four pages to go. Karen Tei Yamashita’s ‘I Hotel’. 605 pages, what a book! Historical fiction depicting the lives of Asian Americans in San Francisco from 1968-1977. Recommended!
A pretty interesting article about how the influence of aging, transportation advances, migration patterns and population consolidation will cause hundreds of cities in Japan to become ghost towns over the next century.
I see that Landscape (the guy behind the Stereo Field and Noon) has a new product that's a handheld string resonator similar to an Ebow. On top of looking very sci-fi, you can vary the vibration via CV. Pretty compelling. https://www.landscape.fm/ferrous
@bfuhrman it sure generates lots of possibilities. I wish there were more bass examples. That'd be my only initial use for it (though this is making me think about buying a cheap 'travel' guitar solely for use with it. Like I need more things to buy).
I think maybe the best tribute I can make to my mom (other than to mention how decent, how sweet, how respectful to others she was), is to show you pictures of our garden.
She was an artist, but also a gardener. She somehow instilled both of those things in me, so that twenty-three years after she passed and 3000 miles away, we have a nice garden. I think of her often when I’m working in it.
Her garden was full of roses, boxwood, azaleas and wildflowers. I wish I had pictures of it to show you.
