Confession: I have been on that Other Site for the last few hours talking about Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon because ... well, this is a good example of why I do miss search here. I want to see what people are saying; I want to know the latest reporting; and, yes, I want to quote-tweet NYTimes Pitchbot. Now it's OK if the community of Mastodon decides it doesn't want to be a key place for news but I'd regret that. And I'm not speaking so much as a journalist but as news user.

@jeffjarvis I wish more people would use hashtags - they’re specifically FOR searches! Like, you don’t even have a or hashtag in your post, so no one looking for posts on them would find yours. You don’t need them on Twitter, but you do here, but folks from twitter still aren’t getting in the habit of using them.

And third party apps let you quote tweet, it’s just an extra step. That’s what “post as link” is.

@dell @mmasnick I love how the story is full of quotes from people saying they’re not choosing some states or fields because of abortion bans, then for “balance” they’ve got a single anti-abortion doctor insisting that we can’t be sure it’s the abortion bans causing drops.
