I am not an NYT hater. I very much appreciate much of what they do, even when I disagree.

But, I think today's edition of The Daily, titled "AI's Original Sin" was very problematic. Over 50% of the way into the show, their coverage was very biased in favor of arguments that they are suing OpenAI for - without disclosing or mentioning their lawsuit.

In the second half of the show, they mentioned their lawsuit and brought a bit of balance to the story, but not much.

I find it interesting that folks can be both extremely concerned about the inaccuracies of AI tools and totally comfortable making up fictional or hyperbolic arguments about AI and post them on Social Media.

I understand that there are lots of legitimate concerns and criticisms of AI and AI industry. But, I am disillusioned at much of the nonsense that is posted here.

Day 2 of Midcamp is underway. It is so nice to be here at another Drupal / BackdropCMS event with old friends while meeting new people.

Grateful for the opportunity to facilitate the unconference portion of the program.

At a session on documentation this morning. Such a basic and important aspect of any project, that seldom gets the attention it deserves.

I haven't posted any deer photos for a while.

EDIT: Just realized that this is photo 200 for me in the #Drones4Fun series.

I try to post a single drone photograph, no more than once a day, as often as possible. It's taken me since 12/19/2022 to reach 200 images.

I try to find images that will "add something" to the existing collection. Some photos are included, just because they are interesting or unique (not necessarily great photos).

Watching videos on color theory in photography tonight. Started with a very interesting video about color in fashion and advertising photography, which didn't seem quite relevent to my work with Drone Photography.

Then I found this one, about color in Landscape Photography (more relevent to me). It's a very interesting video that gives me a better sense of how the pros (or this pro) think about processing color in their images.

I've was editing my DJI Mini 2 videos with KdenLIVE on my Linux system without troubles, but recognizing that it was a bit slow to process and output files.

Now, I'm recording with DJI Air 3 (4k files) and file editing is unworkable.

When I bought current graphics card, I was not doing any video.

Looking for advice. Do I just need a newer and better graphics card or are there other things at play here?

Point me at resources to educate myself on this problem

On a personal note. My mom spent Valentines Day having her heart valve replaced.

I just got word that things went smoothly. Or as smoothly as they can go, when your getting your heart worked on.

Politics on Ice.

I don't make the news, I just report it. ;-)

I love the unusual texture of the ice here and am disheartented by the fact that folks feel the need to publicly fly their political flag, even while ice fishing.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all go out on the ice together and just get along.

Last February I posted a couple of images of ice racing on a nearby lake. This year, it's been warm and the ice isn't quite thick enough for them to get a permit to have several hundred cars out on the ice.

But, the track is ready and they are checking the thickness of the ice every day and hoping it will get there.
