I was getting so overwhelmed with writing until I realised one giant mistake: I'd thrown everything I want to work on in the near future into Ulysses.

I deleted about 80% of documents from Ulysses (making sure I had all of it in text form) and now I have just four folders: my novella, a short story collection, my poetry folder plus my blog folder and an archive of blog posts.

Instead of overwhelm, I feel eagerness! The perfect energy to bring into 2024.

@alexandra I agree. I can see the pattern all through my life where my enthusiasm for writing got in the way of actual writing.

    @alexandra Even the photo and bio is weird sometimes when the bio says nothing at all.

    This all makes me think that trolls are making their way over from elsewhere and this is just the start.

    I am making no-knead bread with leftover whey for the first time. Just waiting for the oven to preheat -- judging by how much the dough rose, the yeast has been happy so far.

    The whey is from making ricotta -- I'm really hoping this works out because I want to make more ricotta, so I can have lasagne in the week between Yule and New Year's. It would be great to be able to not waste any food but get the ricotta made.

    @eyrea ohhhh that sounds so good! I've just seen a video on how to make ricotta, and you are so right, it looks so easy!

    By the way, I also read that you can use the whey in smoothies. I might like to try that too!

    @alexandra I am so sorry for your loss. I remember from when my dad died, there were so many things to arrange that we didn't even think of at first.

    And to do that when you are dealing with grief and other emotions is a lot.

    But there are also so many blessings in it too, but you may only see them in hindsight.

    I wish there was a way to explain to the NYT and other like newspapers that their obnoxious paywalls guarantee I won't subscribe to them. Even when I have a login to see some content, I have to go through a ridiculous number of modals to even attempt to get at an article.

    @eyrea I don't either! I just read the guardian if I want info, or wait for someone to share a free article if I want to read it.

    I did sign up years ago, with one of those privacy account generator thingies and it was just such a pain. I have a lot better things to do than hassle with that!

    I think that part of the reason that I didn't stick to the weeks is that it didn't offer me much space to play. That won't be the case with the a6!
