Best review I could've hoped for: https://afuse8production.slj.com/

The combination of "it's super weird" and "there's no marketing hook" and "it's really good" is exactly what I dreamed of for Bea Wolf.

teroshan,

@ZachWeinersmith Here's the link to the actual review

I'm still waiting for a cold and rainy day to read my copy of Béa Wolf under a pillow fort :)

If you're a proponent donating to @eff, if you're celebrating the Project's 40th anniversary, if you're a user of the internet feeling helpless towards the claws that large corporations dug in the way we interact with each other as humans, and especially if you're a user of , I urge you to take a listen to @pluralistic 's talk at about :

If doesn't manage to rile you up in the first 3 minutes, nothing will!

teroshan,

@chidi_anagonye @eff @pluralistic I was thinking about getting my employer to pay for the trip, but I remain uneasy about the whole plane-trip-across-the-world thing :/

I really would like to though :)

It is absolutely infuriating how much better https://kagi.com is than Google or Bing/DDG.

teroshan,

@ezarowny @hynek @itamarst For sake of comparison, here are my results for this exact search (note that I have bumped the results from github.com, as part of the available customization):

https://kagi.com/search?q=best+blender&r=no_region&sh=uc7ogtLp7ljEhILzdHcCEA

My two cents, I really like the fact that the search doesn't have any incentive to push results loaded to the brim with ads/trackers. And I can afford to pay to avoid having the company to go down that path, at the cost of my experience.

teroshan,

@itamarst @ezarowny @hynek Agreed for this particular example TBH, although it's difficult the quality of the results on one search result.

The appeal of for me lies in the whole package:

  • ability to block/bump/pin domains in my results
  • personalized bangs across all my sessions (e.g. phone and all computers), + compatibility with bangs
  • Better support for code-related searched, so all symbols are taken into account

I feel lucky to be the target for this product :)

teroshan,

@hynek @itamarst @ezarowny Agreed!

Here is a list of most frequently blocked/lowered/raised results for those interested:

https://kagi.com/stats (and click on 'Domain Insights')

The way I use it, is that I dynamically update my list to reflect my currently active project/hobby/interest/🐇 hole of the week

@Deebster The only thing I really really miss with is an API, I want to be able to automatically synchronize my shelves and individual book status/progress with both and .

There is an open issue on the subject, so 🤞
