thedirtyknapkin,

honestly, if recent history was anything to go on this investigation would have never started or immediately ended, agreeing they did nothing wrong.

you might have a point about supreme Court meddling, but this all feels new to me.

or any of the other lemmy apps that start without ads…

i still haven’t heard a compelling reason to use that one other than “it’s what I was already used to on Reddit”

thedirtyknapkin,

i mean, they already mobilized and attacked once. January 6 was not a spur of the moment thing. if you watched the hearings for it you’d know that the fbi knew about j6 for months and warned everyone they could.

presumably there’s much the same kind of planning happening right now.

thedirtyknapkin,

yes, but we still need to test our own ideas. sometimes we’re wrong. we have these kinda of tests because sometimes things we think are very obvious are proven wrong under rigorous testing.

bffr and look up what solidarity is (lemmy.cafe)

Solidarity denotes the unity and mutual support among individuals with shared objectives, crucial in protests for reinforcing collective resolve. Protests are strategically held in high-visibility, disruptive locations to maximize impact and draw public and institutional attention. This disruption compels acknowledgment of the...

thedirtyknapkin,

what the fuck is a bffr? all i can think of is some version of bff

thedirtyknapkin,

man, it sucks when the kids suddenly turn wrong about what’s cool and you don’t like that stuff anymore… stupid short form video…

thedirtyknapkin,

yeah, the fact that we all know if it but none of us knew what it did is still kind of a failure. if the pop up defined sticky keys it might actually have seen some use in everyday life. like i might actually start using that when I’m on the phone at work and need to do stuff on the computer at the same time. assuming it’s still easily accessible in Windows 11.

thedirtyknapkin,

i mean, i think it’s pretty obvious they meant like dress uniforms. these are just short and tight compared to dress blues, but generally in a similar style.

thedirtyknapkin,

eh, as a videographer who measures and labels the output of lights professionally sometimes, we count bounced lights as lights.

thedirtyknapkin,

it’s also damn slow and destructive if you’re trying to fit it into a true professional workflow with deadlines. i work with programs like it professionally and I only use gimp when i find myself on a random computer that doesn’t have anything else. it’ll get the job done, pretty much any job, but it might be very slow and painful. as someone who DEFINITELY knows how to use gimp, i understand the op they’re clowning more than i understand the 1 peer i know that’s actually managing to make money with a fully foss workflow. I also happen to know he largely doesn’t sleep to accomplish it.

gimp and darktable and similar projects are great, but workflow efficiency is what they do after they finish adding features. that just never happens. it’s not the exciting work.

thedirtyknapkin,

i think the line generally comes specifically at “publicly traded company” that’s when everything other than “line go up” is thrown out. publicly traded companies are inherently bad for everyone but those who invest in them.

brother that was over a decade ago. that change happened almost a quarter of the internet’s lifespan ago.

they did that in 2009. YouTube only existed in that state for 2 years. so like 90% of YouTube’s existence has not included the star rating.

thedirtyknapkin,

yes, all of them. if what the tech was made for.

thedirtyknapkin,

wizard probably had to transmute his clothes smaller to fit. not many medieval folk would likely be able to easily acquire frog sized clothing.

thedirtyknapkin,

oh but that’s basically only humans. our mouths are one of our fairly unique features.

thedirtyknapkin,

damn, slow buffering? it’s not actually making you like download download it right? it was doing that at first on my phone when I used a .mov container. seemed better with i switched it to an mp4. still looking for a better platform with embeddable video that isn’t YouTube and supports larger/higher quality files, but also allows users to convert it down as needed. some people can’t/don’t want to load a 4k version.

the focus was worse than the shake. if you full screen it it gets a little rough a few times. the shake is more just a bit of motion blur from time to time because of post stabilization. it wouldn’t even be there if i was at a higher shutter speed, but I needed all the light i could get.

thedirtyknapkin,

or an in house solution. Sony is big enough to build out their own team for it. I could see that making sense. i think Sony probably has the best bet out of the companies that own all of the music. they could be positioned to be the only ones capable of making a music “ai”

Arizona accuses Amazon of being a monopoly and deceiving consumers with “dark patterns” (www.theverge.com)

Arizona’s Attorney General, Kris Mayes, filed two lawsuits against Amazon on Wednesday for allegedly engaging in deceptive business practices and maintaining monopoly status. The first lawsuit accuses the company of using dark patterns to keep users from canceling their Amazon Prime subscriptions, violating Arizona’s...

thedirtyknapkin,

think that’s kind of the fate of all new things in today’s world. if it can be used unscrupulously for money, someone will be doing that for tremendous profit. especially since new stuff usually isn’t illegal, Even if it should be.

thedirtyknapkin,

there’s country music fans everywhere. especially Dolly Parton.
