When Bloomberg reported that Spotify would be upping the cost of its premium subscription from $9.99 to $10.99, and including 15 hours of audiobooks per month in the U.S., the change sounded like a win for songwriters and publishers. Higher subscription prices typically equate to a bump in U.S. mechanical royalties — but not...
I’m trying to wrap my head around the CTO writing code unless it was from long ago when they were a developer. If that is the case, the CTO should understand that a better or more performant solution is likely over time. I’d say that was a bullet dodged. That’s very poor executive behavior.
I was just thinking today that this will never go away. I then realized that this ideologic poison has existed far longer than I have, and will sadly exist much longer than I will. I’m not sure what to do with that other than always stand up when I can, do what I can, and hope for the best. We have great potential.
The headline gives far too much attention to Trump and buries the lede. If there is another Republican president, they will be expected to toe the line. This is the initiative of Project 2025. This is the Republican playbook.

In conclusion, it is easy to see PHP in 2024 as the forgotten child of web development, while JavaScript is the most popular kid in class. Sadly for PHP, its decline in usage is unlikely to stop any time soon — why would it, when WordPress developers are busy adapting to a new JavaScript paradigm? But at least there is active...
That article makes little sense. There is not a non-php version of WordPress at this time. I know Gutenberg uses Node and NPM, but the heavy lifting is still PHP. There has always been client side scripting and server side scripting with WP. I’ll buy that devs are lobbying clients to use something else, but to say this is because WordPress is driving the change can’t be right.

I can’t believe I’m saying something positive about them, but they keep about 6,500 guns off planes a year. Irrespective of thoughts on gun control measures, I think most would consider a gun on a plane a credible threat.
They will do whatever they think they can get away with or afford in the interest of maximizing profits. Many believe that it is their primary responsibility to the shareholder.
In typography, rivers (or rivers of white) are gaps in typesetting which appear to run through a paragraph of text due to a coincidental alignment of spaces. Rivers can occur regardless of the spacing settings, but are most noticeable with wide inter-word spaces caused by full text justification or monospaced fonts. Rivers are...
Rivers caused by justified text are bad for those with dyslexia and present a website accessibility issue. Good developers avoid allowing users the option.
If I stood up a website with the logo of the company I work for and published a bunch of politically charged lies, I’m pretty sure they’d fire me. They would also quite possibly sue me as to discharge any liability on their side.
But there was good news, too. Pesticides presented little to worry about in nearly two-thirds of the foods, including nearly all of the organic ones. Also encouraging: the largest risks are caused by just a few pesticides, concentrated in a handful of foods, grown on a small fraction of US farmland. “That makes it easier to identify the problems and develop targeted solutions,” Rogers says

Among a long list of other things, he took action on day one of his presidency to pause student loan payments. There’s of course reason to be critical of him or any other president, but this isn’t it.
Fair enough on the poorly phrased part, but Biden followed up with a $400 billion debt relief program in 2022. The Trump appointed Supreme Court blocked it. 2022 was not a presidential election year.

The website in question does contain a clear disclaimer at the bottom spelling out that it’s “an unofficial fan website” and “not affiliated” with the project.
I hear ya though. I usually filter by IP for dev sites for the same reason. It’s not 100%, but it keeps them from getting indexed. I don’t think there’s anything interesting enough to make an effort worthwhile in my case anyway.
