Oh man, I dared say that the Linux Foundation waste money on a Linux sub on Reddit. Bring in the downvotes

I doubled down and brought their Diversity & Inclusivity bullshit (I'm heavily expecting downvotes lmao), because you know, we really need to rename old programs named Tits

And Linux needed to be the 100000000th tech company investing in this again

I remember reading an essay by a "real artist" criticizing Paul Graham's "Hackers and Painters" who basically was just bragging that he had more sex than computer nerds.

union,
@union@mu.zaitcev.nu avatar

@lain @Moon Ironically enough he might have. All his money could not buy respect, I'm sure that hurt.

union,
@union@mu.zaitcev.nu avatar

@Moon @lain

I remember that I thought "Painters" was the point at which Graham jumped the shark with his essays. But I suspect that I was negatively biased by his claims that founders living in rat cages of San Francisco was necessary for startups. Unfortunately, at the time it looked like he was winning and I probably felt like being extra critical.

It all happened before the Wuhan Corona and the exodus from Frisco to Tahoe.

The sweetest part for me is, I knew a guy in 1998, Andy Banta, who lived in Tahoe. He commuted to work at Sun in MPK twice a week. Sun tolerated him because he was very good and we still had vestiges of meritocracy back then. Talk about being ahead of the curve.

@leftforfed65 In a supreme irony, Russian commies knew more about good food than just about anyone in America today (sadly I don't own the book, but of course I've read it -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Book_of_Tasty_and_Healthy_Food )

motorists are the ultimate consoomers

> buys expensive heavy machinery to accomplish every day tasks
> constantly has to be refueled
> has to pay for parking or use subsidized "free parking"
> vehicle tears up streets which constantly have to be repaired
> lives in suburbs, which cost much more to build than any other type of housing
> likely fat and out of shape so will spend tons on healthcare

    @darkufo Not sure if the patterns of interaction are going to be compatible between the disparate networks. Especially in case of Threads, which is a safe sandbox for the elite, the interaction is encouraged if you're one of the leading users, and zero if you're anyone else.

    So what happens if the Belarussians didn't agree with Putin to take in Wagner, but just did it themselves because they want Wagner for their own uses?

    union,
    @union@mu.zaitcev.nu avatar

    @penguin42 That hypothetical is founded in some strange assumptions that I have to parse.

    "The Belarussians" is what or who, exactly?

    What really happened is, Putin's plan to deal with Prigozhin was to build up a defensive perimeter around Moscow and kill all the mutineers with firepower. He already started that. That's why the aviation suffered losses, and also inflicted losses.

    So, there are no "the Belorussians" and in any rate they didn't agree with Putin because it as Lukashenko's idea.

    >It's some sort of more natural product
    >The fucking peanut butter is semi-liquid

    Bruh, what

    union,
    @union@mu.zaitcev.nu avatar

    @coolboymew @StaleDonut You know... In America, every supermarket has a peanut butter machine. Shoppers dump peanuts in, place a cup under the spout, press a button, and the machine crunches the peanuts into peanut butter, which then falls into the cup. Kind of like a frozen yogurt machine, if you're more familiar with that. And, that kind of peanut butter has not additives, so it stratifies.
