@jynersolives Yep, although I suspect a lot of the new Threads followers is coming from people signing up who are then prompted to follow the people they followed on Instragram.
@darkufo the only bad part about Mastodon currently is that I don’t see any replies or discussion on your post in my app. I must open the original post link to see it on your server.
I wish the system and apps were better at seamlessly federating content in this case.
@darkufo I wouldn’t rely on that “followers gained” from Threads. It could be screwed by the automatic follows (your Instagram followers will automatically follow your Thread account when they join). Or does Thread actually tie each follower to the post that lead them to your account and surface that info to you?
@darkufo gotta wonder if a large part of the engagement you are seeing here vs threads is because mastodon users fucking hate threads and threads users are like, "what's a mastodon? Is that like a horse?"
@darkufo Not sure if the patterns of interaction are going to be compatible between the disparate networks. Especially in case of Threads, which is a safe sandbox for the elite, the interaction is encouraged if you're one of the leading users, and zero if you're anyone else.

For funsies, I've been poking at Mastodon vs Twitter in the same way, and I've come to the conclusion that even though I've only got 6k here vs 20k on Twitter, there's a very real possibility I have more "effective" reach here than I did there.
Like true virality as possible here, probably not, but the degree to which that happened was rare, almost always on bullshit I didn't particularly care if anyone saw, and its actual impact on marketing or anything measurable outside of Twitter Numbers was. Mmm. Debatable.
@glassbottommeg@darkufo Yep, I promptly got more boosts/stars on a post here than I ever got in years of twitter. And I didn't even have that many followers at the time. I feel like I'm actually heard here.
@glassbottommeg@darkufo on here, I feel that I can expect a decent honest conversation, but I have seen posts from black brothers and sisters saying it's not like that for them and they are being brigaded???
