"Peacekeeper Command-O" (2018), a fun two player homebrew game running on my Odyssey emulator.

It's a bit like Missile Command (1980).

Only five physical copies of Peacekeeper were made but you can play it with Magnavody!

Two bright spots battle it out on a TV screen. One is heading towards four city sprites and one is defending them.

I played this with a friend yesterday and he gave real "older brother" energy by going straight on the attack yelling "good offense is best defense!"

My Amiga 500 friend was trash talking the ZX Spectrum scene for being too niche and I just nodded along politely

There was a band I liked when I was a kid. Was devastated when they broke up as it was the first time a living band I followed split

In hindsight they sang about middle class concerns eg war is bad, we don't need money, let's play hacky sack, etc

Anyway they reformed and every 6 years or so do a new album of varying quality

The 2024 album is really solid. BUT I'm listening to their middle age hippy vibe and I'm llke I can't tell if this is deeply philosophical or just anti-vax 😅😅😅

Australia is having an art moment! People debating what makes a painting good. Love it

Classic Star Treks like Enterprise and Voyager have some pretty cool episodes but then every so often they'll do multi season arcs with mincing aliens in unflattering leotards or wigs

@kwramm The same number of years (29) has passed between now and Voyayer's debut (1995) and Voyager's debut and The Original Series debut (1966)

So many intellectual property holders think game devs are an opportunity for passive income and not only charge exorbitant license fees but do nothing to promote the resulting game.

If you are a game dev, demand the license holder use their channels to push the game as if it were their own baby. Smart owners will want to do it too as it is win/win. That's what justifies the high fees, not some ephemeral notion of popularity.

I consider tutorials a failure of design and work hard so people of all skill levels should be able to just pick up and play one of my games.

Obviously I usually fall waaaay short of that lofty goal but just watched someone play Liberation and they did mostly figure it out. Good feeling.

@upmultimedia But isn't that still a tutorial if the game confronts you with situations that make you figure things out, even if there's no pop up messages?

Gamer new to 6DoF genre: Hi I like Descent (1995) and I'm looking for something similar but more modern?

Space game fans: You simply must play Freespace 2 (1999).

Waking up and going online you often get to see a little story that developed overnight:

10h ago: Check out this rare quadruple eruption from the Sun caught by the Parker Solar Probe!

8h ago: Wow the aurora over Toronto is amazing right now.

6h ago: Go outside right now it's incredible. Never seen it so far South.

4h ago: Got a massive headache and sore eyes but the hospital is packed.

2h ago: The police sent an SMS about killer plants?!?

1h ago: I'm blind and there's something at the door

I would love* it if we started discovering hundreds of rocky earth-like exoplanets with our fancy space telescopes but every single one was 450C due to a run away greenhouse effect
