#archlinux #kde plasma 6 first impressions on upgrade:

• sddm theme with new wallpaper is very beautiful 😍.

• all font sizes are now super small.. 🐜.. literally 4 or 5 size.

• plasma panel is floating now which is annoying, will need to manually change it.

• it seems it changed to double click thing, which I wouldn't expect since I was explicitly using single click for stuff.

It's amazing seeing the problem about pdf cryptographic signing again and again appearing on places like lobsters.

Let me check my notes... 11 years ago the company where I was working was adding support for that on poppler library which is the underlying library that all pdf readers on #linux use. Okular and Evince just use it, so, given correct access to the library all of it is available.

I just saw a blog post from a company asking chatgpt to generate some security code in python to encrypt and decrypt some text and the whole discussion is to guide people to use the linters to validate code... (I mean it's their business).

I don't know if I should just throw in the towel, cry in a corner or burn the whole world. 🥲

The whole AI bullshit everywhere makes me want to rage and seeing someone even thinking that generating this kind of code is a good idea makes me want to hit people

You know what sucks? dumb software.

Here I am after so many times trying to have a good way to cast stuff from the pc or urls to my google cast enabled android tv, finding out about this new blog post which finally makes it simpler to discover the cast device using mdns - https://linderud.dev/blog/stream-to-chromecast-with-resolved-vlc-and-bash/- and it all failling because the stupid cvlc command has no way to accept the self signed certificate.

But fuck, if you choose the renderer manually on vlc interface it does auto accept it and WORKS!

#scala be like: oh no, ecosystem is too broken with many silos, 3 different effect libraries is too much, people can't decide, monads are too hard...

Scala solution: let's introduce a whole new thing called direct style, there's now 7 new libraries, competing against the previous 3 and std Futures. We are even working on effect things in a different way which will introduce 2 more ways to think about it!

Life really been fun lately. A leak on some pipe was detected on the new building I moved to and seems it originates on my apartment, so now they are breaking the bathroom wall to get to dem pipes and fix it I hope. Fuckin heavy machinery cutting through the concrete and or kinda fake walls mixed in to take apart the tiles hopefully without breaking any. Totally fun 😮‍💨

Good to know that #qt6 intentionally broke the fontconfig fallback font configuration on #linux and having the separate "Symbols Nerd Font" installed instead of having to install a custom patched nerd font no longer works and #kde konsole doesn't show the nerd symbols anymore 🎉.

Acho que bati algum tipo de recorde nas ultimas duas semanas a visitar cidades que nunca tinha realmente passado mais do que uns minutos.

Pombal, Santarém, Entroncamento, Azeitão, Caldas da Rainha.

Ainda fui a Leiria e voltei.

À volta de 6 ou 7 cidades em duas semanas.

Hoje estive nas Caldas porque descobri que aquela cidade tem grande Parque/Mata. My god, não estive lá mais que 15 minutos mas pareceu fucking awesome.

Kinda getting pissed that latest kernel keeps having shit broken and I have to rely on the lts one to have things working.

One of the problems now is ethernet not working for some unknown reason.

Turning off the machine gets some kernel panic. Sometimes at boot. Other times things lock doing some shit (this may as well be some wayland stuff). But on lts kernel is much more stable and working. So recent changes are breaking everything.

And it's an old dell xps, no reason for these problems.
