@futuresprog
Farmgeek did one with ultrasonics a few years back. Seemed to work for a couple of years at least. I'm more concerned about the buildup of spider webs - that's what killed the old greenhouse electronics. Ironically the dodgy homebrew conductivity probes survived intact!
@fishidwardrobe
As in an elephant being a milspec mouse? I have been known to slightly over-engineer things sometimes (see Arduino-activated 5kg Rat Flattener project, and yes it would flatten a 5kg rodent).
@rogerparkinson I have 05's which don't seem to work at 3V3 but I know a place I can swap some over tomorrow. I may just stick multiple options on the same device. Belt & braces.
Been using the GoSungrow addon for #HomeAssistant, and iSolarCloud just booted me off. I have a new password and am back on again. Might have to look at extracting the data locally (which frankly is a much better idea anyway).
#HomeAssistant is going well, but I need to move all the devices to another network SSID and password. Searching for how to do this is basically full of "why would you do that?" but no solutions that don't involve manually diving in to the config "secrets" - followed by replies saying "don't do that!" Well, security is one reason. I can't be alone here, right?
@PossiblyMax
Ah, another "don't do what you need to do" message. There is an awful lot of that in #HomeAssistant forums. No, actually I do have reasons and they don't fit in a toot.
Thinking of making a
"Loud Bikes Get Piano Wire"
sign for our street (effectively a crescent, with a school on it) 'cos we've recently gained a couple of twats who like to razz up and down it way above the speed limit on racing motorbikes.
