    I went on my first ebike ride today, AND BOY WAS IT A TON OF FUN! I had a great time. But after a couple years on a , the protection levels (with a bicycle helmet, mesh but armored motorcycle gloves & armored pants) feels not enough at all. I think I'll get myself a full face bicycle helmet

    I'm also considering eventually getting myself an armored undershirt. I'm going basically the same speed as my motorcycle on surface streets (almost 30mph!), so I should treat myself to the same safety standards.

    Definitely going to get myself some handlebar mirrors as well. The more I think about it, the more I recognize I should really be just acting like a small rider on these.

    @jonny yah, definitely ATGATT but different options available! I want to eventually get to either an 'inner armor' situation I think, so I can continue to wear my various cute outfits on top but still be protected.

    I got myself https://ride1up.com/product/lmtd-2/, took a few days to assemble but rides very well. Actually goes upto 31mph. I got the step through, so it's got swept back handlebars - interesting to do those speeds on such a bike. What do you have?

    @jonny the ride1up lmtd was the fastest with the juiciest motor I could find that still had the most standard, brand name components (particularly for braking and shifting) so even if the org dies i can still use the bike.

    @jonny And in a strong and funny physics lesson, it technically puts out far more torque than my 650cc sportsbike , although of course with almost a rounding error of a horsepower :D

    @jonny two 750W sounds awesome! Yeah I wish they came with a VIN so we could just register these. Mine is a single sustained 750W (with 1000W peak), so still decent. It also actually lets you use the throttle all the way up to 31mph (as long as you are pedaling at least a little bit), so that's nice. Of course, launching is not gonna be as good as yours (or my motorcycle).

AA rating is what I'd consider appropriate on my motorcycle for non-freeway riding, so I think they'll be pretty appropriate here.

    @jonny yeah I spent a bunch of time looking at electric motorcycles before deciding that the tech tree hasn't advanced there far enough so got an ebike. Kawasaki has just released a hybrid ninja / z this year, so I think electric motorcycles are finally on like a 15-20 year trajectory to becoming fully usable I think :D

    @jonny fortnine is wholesome and amazing and I highly recommend watching all their videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWPytpiml5c is the appropriate level of physics for someone like me, for example. Ryan has a physics PhD and has been riding since he was like 7, and it shows.

    My friend's moped got stolen from west oakland BART parking, joyridden for a week, and then found. However, the towing company (S&F towing in oakland) wants her to pay 1200$ for 'storage' before they will release it, and it may not be ever in riding condition again. This is also almost the price of the moped, and she may not be able to afford it! Are there any programs that may help her pay for this, or get it waived? please boost for reach.

    How should I be approaching ebike safety for a bike that's capable of doing 28mph / 45kmph? That's moped speeds in India. Feels like regular non-ebike safety is not good enough, and I need something much better. I should probably treat it closer to a slower than a faster right? So some amount of CE rated safety gear?

    @enobacon ya riding covering brakes seems to match how I ride my motorcycle! I'm glad I have good hydraulic brakes. I usually just sit in a parking lot and practice braking so I get better muscle memory (I have to swap the sides though, given motorcycle front brakes on the right side)
