Comparing the ambitiousness of a game to Star Citizen is a risky bet. SC's ambition has not been positive. lol

I would argue that all games have a story. Some have a scripted narrative--which, in the medium of video games, gives the player their own immersive role in the story--while other games give you the tools to create your own story as you play. You face conflicts and use your abilities and the resources around you to overcome them, ideally resulting in a satisfying progression throughout your playtime.

Both are cool for different reasons.

Sure. The premise is that blocks are falling and can't be allowed to reach a certain height. There is drama in knowing that, no matter what, it will eventually reach that height. You're given the tools to fend off the inevitable for as long as you can. There's conflict, resolution, and the plot details are determined both by the decisions you make and the order in which the game delivers the blocks to you. You are the protagonist, the computer is the antagonist. There's a beginning, middle, and end to every game. It's as reductive as stories get, but it's a story.

Ivan 100% Tetrises himself to save the others that have yet to fall. It's just the kind of block he is.

Over Halloween weekend, I beat the original Alan Wake for the first time. It was a blast. I got really engaged in the story and couldn't put it down. I was shocked at how well it held up. The graphics were a tad dated, but they were still pretty good and everything else about the game felt like it could have come out last year. I think I bought the game in like 2014, so finally playing it was a real victory for my backlog. lol

It was really good! It expanded on the story in really interesting ways.

I believe that someday scientists will develop a tool that will be able to accurately measure your gargantuan penis, once we have the technology.

Oh dear, I was hoping that one would die with reddit.

My suggestions for units of measurements, in no specific order:

  • Thimbles
  • Water balloons
  • Per hoppus foot
  • Cord and rick
  • Burlap potato sacks
  • Waffle irons
  • Size 11 wooden clogs
  • Drums
  • Silos
  • Minecarts
  • Blimps/zeppelins
  • Potential babies

I've been watching Gal & Dino, and idk if I like it yet or not, but I really like the juxtaposition of a more silly, western style cartoon dinosaur that lives with an anime girl. lol The concept is great, and it's very cute.

Are there other animes that combine different art styles for comedic effect that are good?

I was hyped until I saw that Avi "Compulsively Ruins Spider-Man Movies" Arad is producing. 😬

EDIT: Oh and it's Sony. And the director choice.... eeeeeeeehhh. Here's hoping for a pleasant surprise, I guess?

That's fair. He also did the first couple Raimi Spider-Man flicks and the '97 X-Men cartoon. So he has worked on some solid projects. But looking through his IMDB credits is mostly not inspiring. He's produced most of the worst superhero movies ever made and few of the best. lol

Right? Can you imagine what they could have been if they just sold the same games as Steam but tried really hard to just be a really good platform? lol

This is really cool, but after watching the video in the article, I see that they decided to make the game as dark as they made the movie. lol I remember watching that movie and having no idea what was happening cause it was so fucking dark, and I got the same feeling watching that gameplay footage.

This is amazing for preservation, though!

This is great, though I really wish they would finally prioritize supporting site isolation and enabling isolated process on Android.

A big part of why a lot of us use add-ons is for privacy and security, but even with more robust extension support, it still won't be as secure as Chromium-based alternatives on mobile until they address that.

What are some alternative to soulless videogame franchises?

What I mean is… sometimes people are very loyal to a videogame franchise or a company because they loved a game they released years ago (Silent Hill/Konami with Silent Hill 2, Blizzard/Bethesda with their respective golden eras, some could argue this happens too with Pokémon and Final Fantasy, etc). Ethical/consumer reasons...

Just beat it a few weeks ago, it was a great time. The set pieces are jaw-dropping at times.

Multiplayer def has a learning curve, but it's fantastic.

Is there any christian religions that don't believe in space?

So I have a born again christian family member in their mid twenties who stated with complete confidence that there is a dome in the sky called the firmament and beyond it is where heaven is. She believes space doesn’t exist and rockets just blow up because the bible said so. She is not the brightest and normally I would let...

Huh, maybe I should give it another try then. A couple of months ago, I was getting nasty graphical glitches pretty frequently under Wayland. I've heard the upcoming 545 driver fixes a bunch of Wayland compatibility stuff, too, so maybe it's time to try it again.
