It sounds to me, that the issue is less with people reading, the article mentions that people do read, and more to do with a lack of critical thought about what is being read.
Eustice, who served 26 years in the Minnesota National Guard, noted that young adults were the military's prime target for new recruits—currently Generation Z, or those born after 1997—and argued that growing up in the internet age had made them used to "immediate gratification."
Oh look, another out of touch boomer. ItS tHoSe DaMn CeLlPhOnEs! Gen Z grew up watching America get involved in, then stay involved in, a deeply unpopular war. Gen Z grew up in an age where you can fact check someone on the spot and it makes it that much harder for recruiters to lie. They grew up in an age where half of the government is trying to drag the country backwards by any means.
I am in the military. I overheard my leadership talking with a woman who wanted to get out. When they asked her why she said it was because of the Roe V Wade decision. "Why would I fight for a country that won't fight for me?" I don't blame her.
There are no moral absolutes, no foundational beliefs, no core values at the heart of Conservative ideology.
I disagree and you kinda touch on it later in the post:
If you view the world through this lens, any fight, any political topic, whatever it is you want, you are righteous.
That is the core value. It's absolutism. They are good people therefore whatever they do is good. Or at least not bad. Abortions are bad, but if they get one, like you said, it's out of necessity. Not because they wanted to. Not like the degenerate left, who does it for fun on a whim.
You know what? I was wrong. I mistook "The Inquirer" A Philadelphia based newspaper with "The National Enquirer" a tabloid rag that isn't worth the paper it's printed on. My bad.
What helped you make the decision to be child-free? How do I be sure about what I want? Looking for recommendation - resources, articles, books etc....
To give you an actual resource: The Baby Decision by Merle Bombardieri. She's a social worker and therapist that specializes in this exact issue.
The book is fantastic. It guides you through thought exercises and different considerations about having kids. I want to stress that she does not try to convince you to have a kid. She just helps you make an informed decision.
A pass key is the private key in a private/public key pair. The private key is stored in the TPM on your device. The website contains the public key. When you use your "one password" you're in effect giving your device permission to access the key storage in your TPM to fetch the private key to present it to the site.
What this means in practice is that if a website has a data breach they won't have your hashed password, only your public key which... is public. It doesn't and can't do anything on its own. It needs the private key, which again only you have and the website doesn't store, to do anything at all.
If you want to read more about it look into cryptographic key pairs. Pretty neat how they work.
Just hazarding a guess as to what it means, I have done no research. The 14th Ammendment disqualifies for insurrection. So there needs to be specific intent for it to be an insurrection and not just a riot. Kinda like without intent first degree murder is only manslaughter
I’m seeing a lot of reports from users of Huawei and Honor devices have reported that their phones are incorrectly identifying Google apps as Trojan malware, specifically labeled as TrojanSMS-PA. According to the alert, this “malicious software” has the ability to send SMS messages without user consent.
That's the neat part: none of what you said matters to him in the slightest. It's so much easier to demonize a group to the point that you view them as subhuman than to perform critical thinking.
I liketo think my take on the conflict is pretty nuanced. Generally, I don't like the State of Isreal.
Let me be crystal clear with what I just wrote: I believe the government of Isreal has fostered a culture of dehumanizing Palestinians and is complicit in crimes against humanity. This is apparent with its history of stealing land and extra-judicial killings of Palestinian civilians by the IDF. The people of Israel deserve so much better.
This sentiment also largely applies to Palestine. The Hamas Government triggered this conflict by striking at civilians in Israel. I understand that their primary driving ideology is to kill jews and I think that is fucked up. I also understand that after years of the afore mentioned land grabbing and killings it has led to these extreme attacks by Hamas. It really feels like a chicken and egg situation, which started first. Either way the people of Palestine deserve so much better.
I am more than capable of assigning blame to the appropriate places and lament the affects it has on the victims of violence.
That's because a competent maritime crew would not be dragging anchor. For the most part, when a ship pays out its anchor, it's not the anchor itself that holds the ship in place, its the tons and tons of anchor chain that go out with it that prevents it from moving. A ship dragging its anchor is either cause they tried to anchor in rough seas, or the crew was too inexperienced to weigh the anchor and maneuver the ship to a better position.
