d3Xt3r,

This is a pretty gimped retelling of internet history. The author fails to mention several browsers that made history, most notably Opera, which came out back in '95. Opera was notable for being the first to introduce several features which have now become staples in modern browsers, such as:

  • Tabbed browsing
  • Speed Dial for fast access to favorite sites
  • Pop-up blocking
  • Reopening recently closed pages
  • Private browsing
  • Advanced UI customisations, such as the ability to set custom keyboard shortcuts and mouse gestures for various actions

Opera contributed so much to the web that it’s almost criminal that it’s left out from an article on browser history.

There were also several notable browsers which made history, such as:

  • Lynx, the world’s oldest browser that is still being maintained (released in ‘92)

  • Minuet, an early DOS-based TUI browser (HTML 1.0 only), released’ 94

  • Arachne, an advanced GUI browser for DOS, released ‘96

  • Neoplanet, the first fully-skinnable browser, based on IE, released’ 97

The active userbase isn't too far off from Lemmy's, roughly 40k compared to Lemmy's 70k. As for the content, it doesn't really mater what service is hosting the community since it's all federated. There are large kbin magazines as well.

kbin Enhancement Suite: a community-curated script manager that lets you customize your kbin experience

A couple of weeks ago, @shazbot made this post about a project that they were working on. Since then, @shazbot, @ori, @minnieo and I have been hard at work, and we are excited to finally announce the official release of kbin Enhancement Suite (KES)!...

xss επίθεση βάση των custom emojis στο lemmy.world και σε άλλο ένα instance.

Also over here on Kbin, can't join https://kbin.social/m/android@lemdro.id. They need to fix their federation settings.

I believe we shouldn't defederate from Meta's threads immediately after its release

Yeah I heard alot of people in the Fediverse saying that Meta Threads should be immediately defederated. But I believe that this is a great chance for the Fediverse to grow as a whole. But I think we should only defederate from them when they actually do something that's against the Fediverse (like doing the "Embrace / Extend /...

sensibilidades,

I don’t see any version of their involvement that ends well. Their entire way of doing things is antithetical to what the fediverse is.

OC I created a site that helps people search the fediverse (programmer2514.github.io)

I had been having trouble getting meaningful results from the fediverse on Google, and after seeing this post, it seems I'm not the only one. So, I created a site that helps search the fediverse in your search engine of choice (it currently supports Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, and Dogpile)....

As an alternative, there's also Native Alpha and Hermit (my personal favorite) on Android. Play with the settings to make it full screen and frameless (no address bar at the top). It also has pull down to refresh.

On kbin, you can then go to your settings and sticky the navbar as well so that it's always at the top as you browse. Personal preference and all that.

I used it almost daily for years. I'm very interested to see what LD does next. Anyone know where to follow them now that r/redditsync is shut down?

Thoughts on ads for kbin?

Hear me out, I know no one likes ads, probably one of the main reasons why people used 3rd party apps for reddit. I can't exactly donate to help kbin, however if there was a setting I could toggle to opt in viewing ads to support kbin and things like server costs, I'd do it, in hopes for improvement of the website....

Reddit has permanently suspended my account for supporting Lemmy.

I have been supporting Lemmy recently a lot and made posts about Lemmy that got big reach. Today, sadly the reddit account through which, I moderated a lot of subs and spent time on, comes to an end. The reason was because I spammed according to reddit, but the reality is that they have censored me because I was hurting Reddit....

God, I miss the old UI of Windows Phone. I do not want to know how much telemetry was going on there, but the UI and UX was awesome imho
