I like the Trilobite creature type, I like Trilobites and I think it’s funny that they put them on cards. Unfortunately there aren’t nearly enough to make a deck out of and they don’t do anything synergistic as a tribe… but I was thinking about what I could do with them anyway....

Any counter doublers or increasers with these two would go infinite if that is what you are looking to do.
For example with [[hardened scales]] on board you would pay one mana and tap the crypticfor two +1/+1 counters. Then you could pull both off for 4 mana and use 2 to untap and one to activate again.
[[Hivestone]] is a sliver specific ability to convert all creatures into slivers. [[Artificial Evolution]] is also a fun option for changing a creature type on a spell or permanent into something else.
I mostly play Magic with people that I've taught the game and gotten hooked on it. Because of that I always keep the new player experience in mind when building decks and some of them are even built with that as a hard constraint....
I like to keep a few precons from the same set to have a somewhat balanced power level against each other. Right now I have the Necrons and Tyranids from the WH40k set for this. It also lets you have talking points for how you might make cuts to the deck to make it your own.
Otherwise I think big ramp or midrange makes a good intro. This Molimo Maro Sorcerer deck is an early rev of a budget deck that I would hand over to folks. It goes quick enough to be a threat, but has only a few decisions to make.
Also decks that could run with different commanders in the same color identity in the 99 let's newbies have a bit of control of how they play the deck. An example being [[Heartless Hidetsugu]] and [[Auntie Blyte, Bad Influence]] would play well in either's deck, but changing up the commander choice could cause you to pivot between a combo or agro game plan.
I eat popcorn fairly often and I was wondering if I can improve on the taste with minimal effort. Do you guys know any good mix I could use instead of salt alone?
Yeah. I'm on kbin.social, so I am not seeing the bots or notifications of replies at the moment, but it is the same formatting as a lot of the mtg subreddits I would reply on.
That said the card works best if you have sac outlets on board, so you don't exile anything you want to reanimate later.
Edit: Just did not scroll down far enough to see the comment. I'm still figuring things out.
I'm still somewhat new to MtG, and have mainly played commander, along with a bit of modern which was a little too intense for me. What are some good formats to look into for kitchen table, 2 player mtg with my wife? Commander is great but tends to want a 4 player format....
Oathbreaker is kinda like a mix between commander and standard. The games are quicker, so it can work better as a 1v1, but can also scale to multiplayer games.
One other option might be to pick a time period and run the standard decks of that time. So if you pick something like a decade ago you would be playing with the original Theros and the Return to Ravnica blocks. Some cards from that time might have held their value, but cards like Boros Reconer switched from $30 while in standard to like $0.6 after they rotated out.
My goal is to get the Mordor and food decks. Then tweak them to be a Sarumon vs Treebeard set of duel decks. I'm hoping that can keep them relatively on the same power level.
I do think I would have liked if they introduced a partner mechanic like the stranger things one. Where you could partner, but only with members of the fellowship.
We all have that deck that just survives even though it isn't the best. For me that's [[Torgaar, Famine Incarnate]]. It's not the best mono black commander in any way but its particular combination of effects to me is emblematic of mono black. It's a bit of a swiss army knife and so I find myself hard pressed to really change...
I built a [[Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar]] $50 budget deck a number of years back that is just a mono green spell slinger build. It is pretty simple to play for new people and resilient enough to play with my normal group.
Being a budget deck I even run it unsleeved and get that nostalgia of playing kitchen table magic as a kid.
How often are you seeing that delver flip? I've found that they can be really hard to get value from in a 40 life deck that doesn't use top deck manipulation or run heavy spell slinging.
That said after March of the machines I think if you use something like Soul Foundry the tokens can now flip, so there might be something fun to work out now.
I'm looking to play casually (in person) with some friends and we were wondering what the cheapest format to start buying for would be? And what might be some good pick ups (we have the starter decks but want some more variety) thanks!
I think the absolute cheapest would have to be pauper, and depending on what your flg nearby runs you may be able to find games to play with others without too much work.
Looks like there's gonna be a bunch of EDH staples and a bunch of fun cards for other formats. I'm really excited to add Reprieve to my Geist of Saint Traft brawl list
I've preordered what I need to run a budget ish Sarumon the White bird tribal deck.
Definitely been eyeballing a farmer cotton deck that runs cloudstone with either inspiring statuary and/or Fallaji Wayfarer to redeploy cotton multiple times.
Help me improve my dumb combo idea?

Nuking my 12yr/100k karma Reddit Account.
I just ran Power Delete Suite on all of my comments and self posts, stating they have been removed in protest....
What's your new player on-ramp deck?
I mostly play Magic with people that I've taught the game and gotten hooked on it. Because of that I always keep the new player experience in mind when building decks and some of them are even built with that as a hard constraint....
Seasoning suggestions for popcorn?

What are your favorite Reanimator targets?
Nothing is better than getting some big groan-worthy guy for cheap, and the best part is since the grave is public your opponents see it coming!...
2p kitchen table formats?

What do you guys think about The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Commander precons? (magic.wizards.com)
What is their power level, are they well balanced? Which one do you plan to buy?
What's your pet deck?

What's your favorite deck that you're playing right now in your favorite format?
I wanna see what decks everyone is playing, feel free to share your decklists as well!

OC What cards are you looking forward to playing with when the LotR set comes out?
