Did you ever have that feeling on reddit of "I better word my post just right, otherwise AutoMod will take it down"? Some subs had such strict auto moderating that it was a crap shoot to post something. Not so here. I know there's value in moderation, and I'm sure Lemmy/kbin/etc. will add more of it with time. But, for now, it...
Coffee company can't be an issue. They are starbucks, not starbuck. The copyright issue could arise from the BSG franchise itself as not only is the character their IP, it's a direct reference to BSG because it makes sense only in that context.
It's kinda similar to what I dislike about CMV but blatant. I think CMV created this whitewashing effect on horrible opinions by presenting them as a discussion against them, while giving them a megaphone into the mainstream.
UnpopularOpinions is similar but a bit more honest, I guess, lol!
As I said in reply to another comment, my issue with the CMV formula is the enormous megaphone it gives to very backwards opinions with the added bonus of wrapping a veneer of honest discussion around it.
It does encourage the appearance of changing views through its rules, but in practice, the longer a thread with a bigoted (or otherwise unpopular) OP kept up the appearance of an honest discussion without giving deltas and closing the discussion, the more primetime exposure it got.
Of course, this is my personal opinion, and I concede that the mods would sooner or later lock the thread anyway, but I always felt that it did more harm than good.
Are you sure you aren't confusing the fact that communities from federated instances outside of kbin showing up as created by @ernest here on kbin, with him creating them?
kbin by default pulls data from any instance kbin users subscribe to. It's called "federation". Unless he manually blocks an instance completely, which is called "defederating", the communities will show up here on kbin. When a community on an instance outside of kbin gets pulled here, a copy of it is created which syncs with the original on the instance hosting it, and those copies show as created by the site admin, who's @ernest.
So, he didn't enable them manually, nor did he create them. His site kbin, pulls data and creates copies of federated communities automatically, and due to the quirks of how federation works, they appear under his name.
Also, it's not as difficult to get used to as it looks at first. There's quite a bit of concepts to learn, but it's definitely not endless. In a week or so, especially if you keep engaging and asking questions, you'll run out of things to learn about the mechanics of the "fediverse".
It doesn't matter to current leadership of reddit how many people it pisses off. For every user of third-party apps, there are now 10 bots and sockpuppet accounts it gets to count as active users....
They didn't reverse it in the sense that they went back to human operators. They got rid of the AI by getting rid of the service altogether by the looks of things.
I have a confession to make, and I think it's hilarious.
I was out of the loop as to what Blåhaj was, and seeing it written as blahaj in the URLs, I thought it had something to do with the fitness youtuber Jason Blaha.
That said, this looks like an amazing community. I wish everyone all the best!
I don't have any intention of going back to reddit, or any other corporate platform for community building.
It looks like ActivityPub based platforms gained enough momentum between them to push it into self sustaining.
Lemmy, kbin, beehaw, mastodon, pixelfed, calckey all seem to have enough activity to keep most users engaged, except maybe the super dopamine addicted.

Helping everyone according to their needs and letting them live as they like vs using any means necessary to establish hegemony over people not in your group, isn't a difference of opinion.
Cheetahs are the fastest land animal for top speed and almost all fours legged animal is de facto faster than us. But two things we can do best, being smart (noticing patterns, imagination and language) and walking, we do mind bogglingly better than our nearest competition.
Those two go together.
Opposable thumbs and the brain power to use hands evolved earlier in hominids. Our line of the ancestry kept getting smarter and smarter with brains that required more and more energy as our ancestors kept evolving. To feed their enormously powerful brain, the species needed to make the body as efficient as possible, which led to our feet changing to support bipedal locomotion, which enabled our long distance hiker superpower through more efficient energy usage compared to four legged walking, even though four can go much faster, and left our hands free to do whatever we want all the time. Our bodies lost almost all hair, and evolved to sweat excessively, which gave us the ability to keep cool while we literally walked large animals to death from hyperthermia, simply by walking after them until they dropped dead.
It doesn't look like the rule is from the event organizers. Most likely local government who want's the money from the event while keeping the turnover high so that people will come, spend their money, and fuck off as soon as possible.
He is a friggin narcissist on a power trip. Today he openly started idolizing Elon Musk and praised him for making Twitter super cost effective or something. Basically sucking his dick for firing a bunch of people and cutting costs.
Just realized something I *don't* miss about reddit: post anxiety

The Steam subreddit has been forced back open.
Looks like Reddit is forcing another sub open, but there are users advocating changing the sub to be about actual steam.
Vote for the name of this new Kbin and Lemmy iOS app under development! (mastodon.social)
Poll: What should be the final name for the #Kmoon app for #kbin and #lemmy? Below some suggestions from the community.
I miss Reddit's size
I know Kbin will grow in time but I miss how huge Reddit was.
What do you NOT want to see replicated on kbin?
Or the fediverse in general....
Noodles: is a tamale a noodle?
I don't really have a question but I want to talk about noodles, please. Is a tamale a noodle or a sandwich?
Twitter is not the only platform with a bot problem. Nuking Third-party apps makes Reddits user count entirely self-reported and unverifiable.

Why do most reddit alternatives end up becoming shit shows?
