In the '70s there were several US adaptations of UK shows which were quite successful. All In The Family was based on Til Death Us Do Part, Sanford and Son was based on Steptoe and Son, and Three's Company was based on Man About The House. In these cases both versions were very successful in their own ways.
If you're looking for XCOM 40k, check out Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters. It unabashedly mimics XCOM and throws in the spaceship management from Battletech. I would say it's not quite as good as XCOM 2, but it's still pretty good. Bonus points if you're into 40k.

Background: I bought a Blue-ray set that came with a code for the digital copy. This was back before Funimation was acquired. I could go through and rip my discs since Sony seems to be on the verge of nuking my digital copies, but teaching myself yt-dlp seemed more convenient....
