FermatsLastAccount,

Any reason you don't want to go with nginx?

I like nginx proxy manager, makes it so much easier.

FermatsLastAccount,

Started self hosting invidious and libreddit alongside the libredirect extension.

FermatsLastAccount,

I personally have everything in a cloud VPS. Used to have a home server, but ended up switching.

I'm using Oracle's Free Tier solely for the fact that it's free and it has amazing performance. 4 ARM cores, 24 GB of RAM, and 200 GB of storage for free. I think they also have a free AMD VPS if ARM doesn't work for you, but it's like only 1 core, 1 GB of RAM.

If you're willing to pay, I'd probably go with Hetzner.

FermatsLastAccount,

I was also going to suggest Nuckols. Both for general information from their newsletter/articles and for specific programs.

FermatsLastAccount,

It's an anonymous forum aimed towards tech workers.

They verify your work email to confirm you work where you claim.

FermatsLastAccount,

Way better upload speeds, at least for me. Residential uploads speeds here are awful unless you have fiber. Uptime also tends to be way better.

I switched to Oracle's free tier VPS and it's giving me more RAM, better CPU performance, and better network speeds than my home server. Only issue is less disk space, but i had already stopped using Jellyfin/Plex before switching.

FermatsLastAccount,

It's not on Steam, but you can add it as a non steam game and play it with Proton.

FermatsLastAccount,

I had no idea you could create DNS records through Nginx. I just wrote a python script that uses Cloudflare's API for that.

Docker with Portainer and Nginx Proxy Manager makes things incredibly easy.

FermatsLastAccount,

I live in an apartment and used to run everything off of an Optiplex, never had any issues with my ISP.

I ended up switching to Oracle's Free Tier. They offer 4 ARM cores with 24 GB of RAM and 200 GB SSD for free.

Streamio + RD users - what are you favorite add-ons?

I've been watching Superman & Lois which is recently airing, but I'm a few episodes behind and can't seem to find a good source for new episodes. The last 3 episodes I see as released on June 14, 21, and 28 (upcoming) so I assume that I should see streams for the first two - or is this normal?...

FermatsLastAccount,

If you're paying anyway, consider trying a Debrid service alongside something like Stremio or Syncler.

All programs should tell you where they store config files (utcc.utoronto.ca)

I wholeheartedly agree with this blog post. I believe someone on here yesterday was asking about config file locations and setting them manually. This is in the same vein. I can't tell you how many times a command line method for discovering the location of a config file would have saved me 30 minutes of googling.

FermatsLastAccount,

Wouldn't the strace.out file be in chronological order?

FermatsLastAccount,

Pumping and dumping stocks is impossible with just $1M. You would need much more money to influence the price of any stock that has enough liquidity for you to buy and sell quickly.

FermatsLastAccount,

The fact that they bought AlienBlue, worked on it for 10 years, and made it so much worse is crazy.

FermatsLastAccount,

RAM and disk space are the cheapest and easiest things to upgrade.

OC Looking For Opinions on Docker + Letsencrypt + Reverse Proxy Setup

I've been running 2 linodes for a number of years now - one has my website (wordpress) on it and one has a Foundry VTT server running. Both are separate linodes, and I use Google Domains to point [site.tld] to the wordpress VPS and foundry.[site.tld] to the other linode....

FermatsLastAccount,

My OHP is more than what my Bench was ~8 months ago when I started working out.

FermatsLastAccount,

A+ trade for the Wizards imo, despite how inconsistent Poole was.

Is there any service that can be selfhosted that is similar to the old rabb.it site?

For those that don't know, rabb.it was a site where you basically had a chatroom and a virtual pc that was shared to everyone in the room. It was used to get together and watch youtube/plex/netflix/whatever together, and everyone was able to control the browser on the virtual PC. I don't even think you needed to have an account...

FermatsLastAccount,

I hadn't thought of using it like this, but webtop should fit the bill? It's a full virtual pc you can use in your browser.

They also have an image for just a browser if you want that instead.
