The truth about teaching English in Japan

Japanese companies operate lean and mean. They like profits. You are the product. If you are white face then you are product. World is now all about white faces being products for brown people. Japan is brown people wanting white face products. Japan business men are nature of the bushido. Which mean they come first. English...

  • Japan,

    @jcrabapple Samsung? It's junk.

    Am I cray cray for want to Teach in Japan?

    Some background: I am a 28 year old professional working in finance with a good paying job in the US but honestly feeling burnt out of the constant rat race. I thought taking a break to teach for a year would help me reset but not sure if I should be throwing away my job for working for a mere fraction of my current salary. I...

    There's something very annoying about those travel/expat videos that announce to the world that is "cheap" and "affordable". I get that it's true for them, but it comes from a position of privilege - they often earn in US dollars, for one.
    The reality for most is very different.
    I don't really know why it annoys me though. :blobfoxgooglyconfused:

    Japan,

    It's a weird feeling when all your relatives are crazy excited that you will be "home" in less than 48 hours and you're not excited.

    I keep feeling like that place I'm leaving is my home, not the place I'm heading to.

    Are food prices going to be just so horrible there? I'm so used to cheap, good food now, haha.

    Japan,

    @bluecat Apparently its rad
