TheEntity,

Ah yes, a "vampire survival game", my favorite genre. If only it would at least be related the some game that sounds similar to that, hm...

fuckwit_mcbumcrumble,

People already post the most racist, hate inducing, vitriolic shit on facebook with their name and life history attached to it.

It might reduce some low effort trolling, but I don’t think it will affect much.

drahardja,

I’ll flip the question around: what are you trying to achieve with zero anonymity, and how could it be abused? Is the tradeoff worth it?

If real identity is required to participate, but is not publicly displayed, who would you entrust with this information, and how could it be abused?

Isoprenoid,

Once again, ad blockers prove to be a great security measure.

jonesy,

If your smart tv is android based you can try side loading Smart Tube, which integrates ad block, sponsor block and a whole pile of QoL settings you can tweak to suit you.

huginn,

Friendly reminder that your predictive text, while very compelling, is not alive.

It’s not a mind.

I feel like it would be better as a toggle in the settings? I wonder if they envision it as something that’s always enabled for everyone in the future.

Ironic given the article topic.

I won’t be reading this article because of the gate.

Their finger slipped and accidentally coded a whole in-game ad delivery system.

RagnarokOnline,

Bottom row, 2nd from the left. Simple, clean, distinct.

xkforce,

The sad part is that the longer you are undiagnosed the more those neurotypical standards are your standards. So there’s a lot of masking that goes on due to self hatred and it is very hard to train yourself to be more self compassionate.

H1jAcK,

I’m not supposed to feel guilty all the time about everything?

That would be the goal. The tricky part is matching intents that align with some API integration to whatever psychobabble the LLM spits out.

In other words, the LLM is just predicting the next word, but how do you know when to take an action like turning on the lights, ordering a pizza, setting a timer, etc. The way that was done with Alexa needs to be adapted to fit with the way LLMs work.

Google’s sales pitch for Manifest V3 is that, by limiting extensions, the browser can be lighter on resources, and Google can protect your privacy from extension developers.

Emphases mine. Funny, I use extensions to protect my privacy from Google.

Chromium needs to be fully divested from Google. End of story. There’s too much conflict of interest in letting the world’s largest advertising company have this much control over one of the two major browsers. If you don’t see the problem with that, imagine if Taco Bell was also the world’s largest producer of anti-diarrhea medicine.

rikudou,

As a nano user, I fully agree.

geekworking,

+1 for nano. I just need to change two parameters in a config file, not join a religion.

DmMacniel,

probably because it isn’t news but an opinion piece.

My two cents… you’re creating a false dichotomy.

Women’s issues are being raped, beaten by their husbands, murdered, treated like dirt in the workforce…

But the issues for men are largely being done to themselves by themselves…

You’re boiling extremely complex social issues into a simple “men vs women” stereotype that may have a remote basis in reality but cannot be generalized to entire genders. Most men do not commit violence against women, for example. Men are just as likely as women to suffer trauma, too, whether the causes are generally different matters little to whether someone develops a stress disorder like PTSD. You’re ignoring that men and women are just as likely to suffer from abuse as children, and you’re ignoring that suicide and substance use are also serious issues for millions of women.

I’d urge you to consider how telling an entire gender, of which you are not a part, what they need to do differently might be perceived. I’d also urge you to check how your relationships with men in your own life might be perpetuating the social expectations that they cannot be vulnerable with women. Many women absolutely put this expectation on men, and as a result, women do play a role in this issue. If you tell a man you know to “deal with your issues on your own,” you are quite literally part of the problem.

Does Marijuana Make Anybody Pass Out Like Me?

I’ve never been a big user, but as I’ve grown older, pot has made me pass out more than once. I took a drag off of a joint at a festival a few years ago and passed out and couldn’t be revived for 5-10 minutes. They said my blood pressure dropped dramatically. I’m wondering if this happens to anybody else

Never used it myself, but my mother has told me when she was much younger she tried pot a few times and stopped because it just put her to sleep, and this was well before the strong strains we have today.

I don’t know, it’s going to depend a lot on usage pattern and cache hit ratio. It will probably do a lot more writes than normal to the cache drive as it evicts older stuff and replaces it. Everything has tradeoffs in the end.

Another big tradeoff depending on the cache mode (ie. writeback mode) if the SSD dies, you can lose a fair bit of data. Not as catastrophic as a RAID0 would but pretty bad. And you probably want writeback for the fast writes.

Thus I had 2 SSDs and 2 HDDs in RAID1, with the SSDs caching the HDDs. But it turns out my SSDs are kinda crap (they’re about as fast as the HDDs for sequential read/writes) and I didn’t see as much benefit as I hoped so now they’re independent ZFS pools.
