I think person* is the keyword here. Many families have several people concurrently watching streaming video, listening to music, and playing games that are required to have an internet connection. 100Mbps is not enough.

Is this a continuation of the same story universe? Death as in 'one of the endless' - Dream's sister?

Is this by Neil Gaiman as well? I've read a bunch of his Sandman comics, which are wonderful, but I think I would appreciate Morpheus even more in a novel!

I just finished Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky, and the first word to come to mind is a resounding "Eewwwwwwww". Just spiders, all the spiders. sigh It really was a very good book, and the story telling from the spider's perspective was wonderful, but 'ugh' it's hard to stomach some of the visuals they illicit. Definitely a solid recommendation though, and I can't wait to see where the next book takes the story. (Maybe think twice if you have a thing with spiders and an active imagination?)

I also finished Morning Star by Pierce Brown earlier this week. I'm addicted to this story and can't recommend it enough... Although Morning Star ends on a pretty high note and I'm reluctant to move on to the next book because it started at a really low point and can only be downhill from here. I kind of want to hold on to the high point for a while before moving on to "Iron Gold".

Next up is Abaddon's Gate by James Corey, the first two were pretty good. I've seen all of the TV show, so I'm curious how the books differ from The Expanse.

Isn't 'The Currents of Space' the second book of that series (following 'The Stars, Like Dust') ?

I've started the first one several times but never finished it for some reason... I live Asimov, but like Clarke, the books are so small they don't really allow for a lot of plot building. I'm the same way about visual media too. I can't watch movies anymore, they don't allow for long, detailed, plot progression of a TV series.

Oh man, I've listened to Carl Sagan's Cosmos so many times in my life that I'm afraid it would be a Pavlovian response to him narrating an audio book... ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜ด

I have Three Body Problem requested on Libby - just waiting for a copy to come available to borrow. Someone recommended it and Hyperion at the same time, so I'm hoping for a better experience with that one. :D

My wife and I, but mostly her, read too much to purchase anything but our favorites. We rely heavily on our kindles and borrowing books through Libby to keep us from going broke and filling our house.

I hope you enjoy Red Rising!

I have a special place in my heart for Ursula LeGuin - The Wizard of Earthsea was one of my favorite books as a kid. This series was sort of my first jump from goosebumps and other RL Stine novellas to young adult fantasy.

I was more than a little sad when my son didn't enjoy it as much as me. :'(

I kind of agree with this. I listen to audiobooks while doing house tasks or driving, but find that I can't follow it if I'm doing anything that requires thought. Distraction makes it not worth while.

I finished both Hyperion and Golden Son a couple of days ago.

I'm kind of disappointed with Hyperion... It was compelling, and the world building was incredible, but the whole book just ends without resolving anything. It was all just lead up to where some resolution should happen and it just abruptly ends. I'm going to have to read the next book just to see where the first book was supposed to go...

Golden Son is the second book to Red Rising. The first book was good, but this one was incredible! I'm definitely hooked on the story now, and invested in where it leads.

Currently reading Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky and Morning Star by Pierce Brown.
Both are scifi - Morning Star is the 3rd book in the Red Rising series - I can't recommend this series enough!

I'm only about 20% into either of them, will report back.

Nope. Do people do that?
You still get the story. I like to hear the story in another person voice sometimes.

The murderbot books narrator is great!

It's either public feedback, or it can't be trusted.

Loops?
What is punishing about exploring? Elden Ring is probably the easiest souls game, you can just mount torrent and leave everything in the dust.

I started reading again last month after several years completing another degree, so I only set a goal for myself of 10 books. According to my StoryGraph goal, I'm at 7 so far... I should probably increase my goal.

So this is like a light soulslike with guns? Looks pretty good.

The slow gameplay is an issue for me too. Chris has been trying to slow the gameplay down for a while now (probably in preparation for this), and it's only pissing people off more and more.

There also needs to be a better approach to crafting in PoE2. Learning the ins and outs of crafting in PoE is fucking daunting. I'm an adult with responsibilities. Nobody has time for learning that, or time for grinding that much currency...

Unfortunately, all AA is religious. The 12 step program they use inherently assumes you surrender to a higher power. There has been some push back to make that higher power into something you personally consider higher than yourself, but the intention is 'God'.

NSFW content in the sidebar random posts

Hi, I was just browsing kbin on my work pc which is not signed into my account. While scrolling down there was a very nsfw picture (female genitalia) in the random posts sidebar. This nsfw content was, for some reason, not even blurred. I've seen this a couple times previously and am not sure where a good place to report or...

NSFW content doesn't even show up anywhere for me in kbin - unless I go directly to the magazine/community. I have everything set to allow it to show, but it just won't. I don't understand how y'all are getting random tidbits of titties without trying, but it seems to be actively censored for me.

Also, "rioter" is not an accurate description either...

OC Barbarians of the fediverse, how about y'all move on from massive axes?

Don't get me wrong, I know many of you also use these huge axes to manage your body hair, but enough is enough. How about spears with heads the size of a flounder? What about flounders? Have you ever seen someone get hit with a two-handed flounder? Kitchen appliances? There's a lot more creative ways to smite your enemies. You...

Considering the level of coordination it takes to make anything cohesive on those, let's see spez try and downplay us again with 'only a small percentage of users'.

I can't wait until I never have to see this guys face or hear about him again...

Unfortunately, I think that is a innate function of federation. Mastodon is like that as well, you don't start seeing stuff from remote instances until you/someone on your instance starts interacting with it.
