Why does it feel like we're at a point where every social media + other digital media are making shitty decisions and falling apart?

I mean there's Reddit ofc, as well as Twitter in its entirety, Discord is implementing some dumb updates, there are issues with Tumblr as well as everything to do with Meta, and I'm sure there are plenty more (and I haven't even touched other digital media, for example the Sims). Why is it all happening in the span of about a...

Midgitsu,

Maybe they weren't far-right and really just not as far left as you. More context on this is needed because it's become a real problem of people labeling everyone that criticizes progressive thinking or policy as "far-right" these days. It's why I can't stand Reddit anymore. Site does not encourage diversity of opinion and debate.

Midgitsu,

Rumble is lacking so many simple features that YouTube has, like being able to just listen to content while the screen is off. YouTube seems to be the only video streaming app able to do this.

Cyberpunk’s expansion totally overhauls the original game (www.videogameschronicle.com)

So I think this is a good one for the patient gamers… I actually already played this soon after it came out and still really enjoyed it, although the world felt like it didn’t have any real people in it the city is just fantastic and visually appealing. I imagine this update will transform the game entirely, I’m looking...

Midgitsu,

Watch it go the route of NMS where you can't get it below $30, haha.

Midgitsu,

I agree. Feels like a lot of those games that release at the end of a console's life end up in a bad place because they're held back by trying to run on old hardware. Borderlands 3 drove me insane because it ran like hot trash on last gen and wish they would have just focused on one or the other. I mean that game also would have benefited from another full year in development given how terrible the launch and first year of that game was but that's a different story.

Midgitsu,

Stardew Valley. Game takes a couple hours to hit it's stride but when it does, you won't be able to stop playing. The game has an incredibly addictive and rewarding loop and it just has such a cozy and wholesome feel to it. There's an attention to detail that makes it feel so special and the music will be stuck in your head for weeks/months. Great game for short or long gaming sessions and doesn't raise the blood pressure (unless you die in the mines after amassing a ton of great items, haha).

Open letter by Embracer Group CEO on restructuring program - Embracer Group (embracer.com)

Everyone, This morning we announced a restructuring program across the Embracer Group that will make us a leaner, stronger and a more focused, self-sufficient company. I want to share some background and context to this decision – and what it means for us going forward. During the past years, Embracer invested significantly...

Midgitsu,

I'm still salty about Tiny Tina's Wonderlands' botched post launch support and dumpster fire of a season pass. I wonder how much of those poor decisions were just Gearbox or if Embracer played a role in any of it.

My biggest problem with kbin

The biggest problem with kbin is honestly quite simple, but I don't people is talking about is the fact that finding the magazines that I'm subscribed to is in Settings > Subscribed, on Reddit, it's literally in the top bar, I don't get why it's buried in settings. Another thing is why is my home page full of posts from...

Midgitsu,

I noticed that looking at my profile doesn't sort from newest to oldest, it does oldest to newest. Default the sort to newest to oldest or at least provide a toggle.

Midgitsu,

Now it seems the problem is compounded because we're gonna have reposts across different related communities which will then be duplicated onto every instance/server. I'm also wondering how this will affect SEO and long term documenting of the internet. When I do a Google search for something, what will it return?

I'll give it to Reddit, nearly anytime I needed to search on how to do or fix something, those first 2 or 3 Reddit links almost always solved my problem or told me what I needed to know. Not sure how relevant or diverse the returned searches will be with kbin's system.

Midgitsu,

What exactly is the advantage of an app over just using a browser? I've been moving to just using the browser for many apps now and the experience is the same. Hide the URL/navigation bar (save to home screen) and you effectively have a mobile app. A surprising number of apps just end up using the phone's default web view that links to a web URL (which functions the same as in the browser but without a navigation bar).

I mean, there is a certain "feel" that some apps benefit from being native, but usually those apps are things that are very computation intensive and using lots of cutting edge and system-level features (of which Reddit doesn't).

Midgitsu, (edited )

I knew the former glory days of Reddit were gone when I was getting downvoted to oblivion and dunked on for supporting nuclear energy in some default Reddit subs (probably r/politics or something similar). All the default subs have an intense progressive bent. You cannot make an argument for something that doesn't lean strongly left (kind of confused why so many progressives seem to hate nuclear). At least Reddit in the early 2010s had a diversity of opinion and decent open discussion.

Midgitsu,

Finally getting around to playing this game. Just finished my initial route through Gran Soren and escaping that place underneath the Pawn Guild within an inch of my life. So far it's been pretty cool. Loving the mix of action combat with some tactics and support pawns that seem to learn as you go. Pretty damn good game for something that came out in 2012.

Midgitsu,

Honestly, as much as people give Ubisoft crap for their formulaic open world games, I absolutely cannot wait to get a true open-world Star Wars game from them. Even if it's just Assassins Creed: Star Wars, I will totally okay with that.

Star Wars Outlaws Announced! Coming 2024. (www.youtube.com)

Experience the first-ever open world Star Wars™ game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. Fight,...

Midgitsu,

Other than Valhalla, I've loved just about every open world game Ubisoft has made, for varying reasons, occasionally taking breaks between releases when I feel burned out (skipped a few AC games back around 2013/2014).

I'm hyped for this game even if it's just AC:Star Wars. Having that AC open world formula set in this universe is enough to get me super excited.
