I’ve been thinking about something and want to check an assumption I have. I only hear directly from other people in the USA, and interract with the global community through memes. How are the gun regulations/laws different from yours in terms of strictness, and do you wish there was more or less where you live?...
I'm from NZ. I was very surprised to learn that our gun laws were quite lax up until the relatively recent mosque shooting in Christchurch - the assault-style weapon the shooter used was quite legal, including the special modifications he had made to make it better for killing people.
in the wake of that tragedy, things have gotten a lot stricter, though I'm afraid I can't provide specifics - while I love guns, my collections are confined to the virtual, and I really have no interest in owning one IRL.
It seems like it’d get increasingly impractical as the years go on to hundreds of thousands and millions of years to write them out that way, but then…I guess technically one may already do this with the preceding years, so future’s fair game for it?
I would guess this effect is caused by lowered anxiety, or rather, reduced alertness. I take a medication that includes an adrenal blocker - for my anxiety - and if I miss even a day my dreams go crazy as my body is flooded with levels of adrenaline it's no longer used to.
I'm a hobbyist gardener - or, rather, plant enthusiast - but even if I know that the plants themselves might be considered valuable, the scale I'd have to engage in it to make it capable of supporting me in its own is... daunting, to say the least.
are we counting an infinite number of zeroes after the decimal point, as having infinite digits? because if you specifically exclude while numbers, your output would not be truly random, though it would be essentially impossible to distinguish it from true randomness.
wouldn't it be faster just to scroll past? I mean, I see fairly frequent posts in German, fewer from other languages, but they're a tiny fraction of the total, even so.
I think a better phrasing I for this question might be, how easily can i put myself in a (fictional) character's shoes?
using examples from the adjacent reply, it's obvious Frodo is intending to destroy the ring, is questing to that end. but can you imagine yourself being him, imagine how he feels at a specific moment in the story, discern his deeper, non-explixit motivations, his thoughts or fears?

Question to those not in the USA, and who have lived outside the USA.
