Two more US officials resign over Biden administration’s position on Gaza war (www.theguardian.com)

Alexander Smith, a contractor for the US Agency for International Development (USAID), said he was given a choice between resignation and dismissal after preparing a presentation on maternal and child mortality among Palestinians, which was cancelled at the last minute by USAID leadership last week....

“I cannot do my job in an environment in which specific people cannot be acknowledged as fully human, or where gender and human rights principles apply to some, but not to others, depending on their race,” he wrote.

Ugh terrible. Like how do you receive a letter like this and still think "yeah I'm the right one and not a racist POS war mongering profiteer". Theres no shame anymore

Well I like all the new helmets, hats and hairs ¯|(ツ)

What do people today act like is new, when it's already have been a thing or already been around?

Gamers like to make it sound like $70 is a new thing today for video games. When, I've seen adverts of games back in late 90s and early 90s that were priced $70. It's always been around so I find it ridiculous that so many of them complain that the pricing is too high when, it's been a thing....

Shawdow194,

To be fair, there are a lot more $5 games nowadays that provide hours of good quality content.

There were plenty older games that charged full price and are shit aswell. And there was less selection..

Interesting that 3/10 people globally have myopia (near sightedness)... that's absurdly high. And as the trends stay as they are they are only predicting an increase

I guess it proves humans as a whole are focusing more on screens, books, and other short visions tasks

Focusing on providing safe outdoor spaces for everyone has never been more important

Shawdow194,
Shawdow194 avatar

Well like how glasses fix myopia it isnt really an ailment anymore then. Ideally that's what we should be aiming for. Fixing - not making better just to make better

We only see people with PKU (phenylketonuria) or ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) living normally because of our advances in medical fields. Before in our history they would perish (or unfortunately be culled) like the stunted hawk

It's a highly grey area in ethics, but I think as long as we have best interest in mind and dont end up like the humans in Wall-E we should be fine. Star Trek also covers a lot of eugenics topics and in the end they also think humans should take the course of evolution and avoid things like designer babies or genetic enhancements

And its honestly incredible though. Humans literally fighting (and winning) against evolution/nature

I agree. Fixing some diseases and deformities while in embryo seems the most effective solution

Exactly, they need the socialization and you get to give some free pets - win win for everyone!

"Police body cam footage showed an officer chasing Teddy (pictured) around a large field and making several unsuccessful attempts to catch him before shooting the dog dead"

Whaaaaat?????!!!

Edit, I want to add

"...Teddy, a 13-pound Shih Tzu, ..."

Bruhhhhh

I highly reccomend DS9 and Voyager (in that order) if you did like TOS

DS9 is much better since it follows a continuing plot instead of TOS which is more of a "monster of the week" format

I agree with other users recommending Mint

What's best practice in this scenario? (slrpnk.net)

So I’ve got this Monstera plant thats been with us for a while but recently got attacked by these tiny tiny black insects that keep eating the leaves. I’ve actively tried to get rid of them as well as screening this plant away from the rest, but the insects seem to always come back. I’ve just read that it’s possible to...

I agree with other users saying neem oil. Just be careful, its oily, stinks when sprayed and it is technically a pesticide (even though its natural)

Also yes to other users suggesting cut back to root/above node. All dead/brown stuff is exactly that. Dead. If you really like a certain leaf you can trim brown spots off, but if the cause is underlying like bugs or nutrients that hasn't been fixed it will continue to brown

Good luck! Monstera are tough, she'll be fine soon

To put it in perspective a 1f change in water temperature is like a 1f degree change in our bodies. A fever for a short time, no big deal. Too long and you die

These creatures use the ocean to regulate their temperature. It needs to stay consistent for them like how we have a stable 98.6f

"Of the total announced on Wednesday, $5.2 billion in forgiveness went to about 66,900 borrowers who qualified through adjustments that the Education Department made to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. It aids teachers, firefighters, and other government and nonprofit workers.

About $600 million in relief will go to around 54,300 borrowers who are enrolled in the SAVE plan, which ties monthly payments to income and household size, and who took out smaller loans for graduate school. All borrowers enrolled in the plan can receive forgiveness after 25 years at the most, but borrowers who took out $12,000 in loans or less can qualify after 10 years of payments."

Awesome seeing this all go to long term payers and public service workers!! Helping loyal citizens is exactly why we institute a governing body

"The government should have ordered back pay from servicers to the borrowers including interest. As well as an investigation and criminal charges if evidence shows they were intentionally failing to forgive loans intentionally. And the government should be returned any funds they paid these servicers to operate PSLF."

Love this idea
Funny you mention exactly what I tell folks who push back against this - these programs already existed and have for awhile. They're good programs designed to help justify people entering the public sector as opposed to everyone starting a private for-profit practice!

New Details on Valve's New Game 'Deadlock' - Insider Gaming (insider-gaming.com)

As already leaked, the game is a 6v6 third-person hero-based shooter. Heroes include magicians, robots, creatures, humans, and more. There are currently 19 different heroes, each with different abilities and playstyles that you’d come to expect from a MOBA including ranged, healers, tanks, assassins, etc....

Shawdow194,
Shawdow194 avatar

As a non MOBA game player I'm a little disappointed

Shawdow194,
Shawdow194 avatar

Just personally they arent my type of game. Single player games are my forte

I think so too on the Overwatch DOTA hybrid, it makes sense they are making MOBA/Royale style games since that's what's popular (esp internationally) and what makes money. But again, not my genre.
