This is a really cool potion effect! The way it's made is quite unique, and the effect seems helpful.

I'd suggest having this not just apply to falling. For example, it could teleport you out of lava or the void should you fall into those. To balance this, I'd have the duration be the same as slow falling (1:30, 4:00 if extended with redstone) or maybe even less.

I also think the name should be changed. "Potion of rewinding" is a much more fitting name that does a better job of communicating the point of the effect. To be even clearer, the actual status effect could be called "Protective Teleportation".

The optional rule doesn't really make sense. It'd make the potion super confusing — sometimes it works, but sometimes it does nothing.

Will forums fix the Internet?

In the opinion portion of Kurzgesagt's most recent video, they suggest that going back to small forums, bulletin boards, etc. will help people deradicalize and become more empathetic. The idea behind this is that, just like real life, forums allow people who disagree on certain things to bond under a shared interest or identity;...

RE: Is Ernest still here?

I check in here quite often, but for now, I'm just focusing on clearing spam and keeping the instance alive. In January, I was working on the AP module, and there has been significant progress in the work, which hasn't been publicly published yet. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the year, I developed a skin condition that...

Thanks a ton for the update Ernest! It's great to hear from you, and I hope your health improves soon.

That being said, I do have a few things I'd like to suggest.

--

In February, I spent my time visiting doctors and undergoing treatment with medications, which often had very unpleasant side effects. Therefore, I decided to hold off on any major updates to avoid causing even more chaos.

If I'm interpreting this correctly (i.e., that you chose not to give any updates as to prevent people freaking out), I don't think this was the best move. I understand where you were coming from, but (if you were able) some sort of small status update would've been preferable to a month-long silence (especially since you'd previously said that you'd be unavailable for only 2–4 days). A simple "Hey, I'm currently not doing well. I'll get back to things as soon as I'm feeling better," would've at least let us know that you were alive and that the project hadn't been abandoned.

--

Just because it's not visible that something is happening doesn't mean I haven't been doing anything during this time. In fact, two really significant things have been successful, which I've been working on for a long time and which I intended to announce soon once I recover.

I don't think this whole "holding off for a big announcement" thing is a great approach, at least not now. There are currently several issues that we're waiting to see fixed, and we have no idea which ones (if any) are being worked on. If you must wait for a big reveal though, at least telling us, "I'm still working on stuff" would be better than nothing.

--

And finally, I really suggest getting some more admins for the instance. You're absolutely correct to prioritize your health over Kbin; nevertheless, it's far from ideal for your absence to mean that spam piles up, moderation requests lie unanswered, and accounts can't be deleted. We'd all appreciate it if you could have at least one extra person on deck for whenever you're ill or in need of a break.

--

Thanks again for all you do for Kbin, and I hope things get better!

From what I can gather, this particular design was proposed by Puerto Rico's New Progressive Party (Partido Nuevo Progresista or PNP), which advocates for Puerto Rican statehood. The circle definitely has its appeal, though I think I'd prefer something closer to the current flag.

Minecraft Suggestions — A community for sharing and discussing ideas for Minecraft

The threadiverse counterpart of r/minecraftsuggestions. This isn't a new community—we (the r/mcs mods) made it a while back following the whole Reddit API fiasco—but since it hasn't been posted here before, I figured that I'd put it here for anyone who's interested but not aware....

Could we get something like PieFed's "Add Remote" button?

A super helpful feature that PieFed (a new fediverse thread aggregator like Lemmy & Kbin) has is an "Add Remote" button on its communities page. This button allows you to get a community on another instance to appear on your PieFed instance (and thus get the PieFed instance to start getting posts from that community)....

PieFed's "Add Remote" interface, used to add communities from other servers.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll take a look at how I can solve the issue.

Implemented menu icons in idkbin 1.3.6! They make the UI feel a lot more polished imo.
I also made these a standalone userstyle if you just want those.

Yeah, the one with alternating rows is the one I see most and the one I'd prefer. You make a good point about the circle being different though. Honestly never thought about it that way, but with that in mind, I can see why the PNP would opt for something like this.

"inhibit natural creativity" is an outright lie

My creativity is infinite by not having a way to sit down and by not having vertical slabs. There's no way in the game to do these things no matter how creative you are. A trap door is (usually) not a substitute for a vertical slab and and there's literally no way to simulate sitting down. That's Microsoft saying they don't want to, it's nothing to do with us. And that's just the top two things on their rejected page.

@Advocate I think the slabs may be a technical limitation. They'd have to deal with every combination of top & bottom slab, which might involve tons of new blockstates or an overhaul of how slabs were handled and thus not be very feasible when they have other things to work on.

Or it might be another vertical slabs thing where they say it "liMitS CreAtIViTY".
