Turkey_Titty_city,

His show is entertainment first and foremost. That means glorifying stupid bullshit for the entertainment value of it.

Most hard science is boring. Most fringe theory thinking is dramatic and thrilling.

Turkey_Titty_city,

no. they don't. there are too many phd programs. Graduate studies outside of applied fields is a ponzi scheme.

all a phd program is cheap labor for universities. which is precisely why they want to expand them, so they don't have to hire faculty.

there should be far less phd programs in academia period.

Turkey_Titty_city,

because wearing masks did shit. that's why.

vaccines did.

Turkey_Titty_city,

the issue with covid was that the entire medical system would have collapsed, leading to crazy amounts of deaths.

Turkey_Titty_city,

because wearing a mask is for pussies.

it's really as simple as that. it's seen as weak and pathetic and makes you an object of ridicule.

Turkey_Titty_city,

I don't wear a mask anymore, but people glare at people that do. I also got a lot of harassing comments when I was wearing a mask last year.

Turkey_Titty_city,

People do not want to be told what to do. They do not want to be inconvenienced.

Personally I hated wearing a mask. it was a huge pain in my ass, and mostly unnecessary most of the time except on public transit or in like a very crowded place like a grocery store.

Turkey_Titty_city,

Politically it will be suicide for the democrats.

Turkey_Titty_city,

The govt telling anyone to do anything is authoritarian.

The issue is if you agree with what the govt is telling you, or not. It's only authoritarian when you disagree.

Turkey_Titty_city,

you realize that civil suits take years and a lot of money? not all of us have 50K in the bank to hire a lawyer for 2-4 years so we can get the payout.

Turkey_Titty_city,

it's not about science. it's about public perception. masks didn't stop covid. vaccines did.

people will not wear masks again. they would probably get another vaccine though.

ending covid = getting rid of mask mandates, in the publics viewpoint.

I am single. I get dates but I have been stuck in a rut for almost 5 years of only attracting women who are 100% of the opposite of my values and what I'm looking for. So I can get laid, but its otherwise miserable. I haven't met anyone who I was genuinely excited about since 2018. Just about two dozen people who seemed cool at first but turned out to be complete lying jerks after a month or two, looking for me to be their daddy. It's gross.

I'd like to find someone who is progressive and intellectual, and who isn't obsessed with money and materialism, but they simply don't seem to exist in my city. Most of my first dates are just ladies complaining about how broke they are on their six figure salaries... ugh.

It's Almost Impossible To Find A Decent Used Car Under $20,000 (jalopnik.com)

Vehicles under $15k are 1.6% of the market, and their share of the market has dropped over 90% since 2019. The old advice that you can get a beater and drive it in to the ground for $5k hasn't been true for years but it still seems pervasive in personal finance spaces.

Turkey_Titty_city,

I bought a new car in 2018 for 19K. Everyone I know flipped at me for 'wasting money' and not buying a 5yo+ 10K car that looked like shit with 100K miles.

It's now worth 21K, after 50K miles.

I'm looking at trading it in for a 35K car in the next two years, and watching the value on that car never go down either.

Turkey_Titty_city,

this is why universities have endowments. and why they become convulted messes.

of course, they don't use them like they should, but that's another issue entirely.

sadly people are greedy and short sighted, no matter the institution. often the committees want to reward themselves above all else.

Turkey_Titty_city,

I live in a 'communist' city.

Most people here are driving huge honkin' SUVs and are screaming about the lack of street parking, even though they have driveways.

The entitlement is pure insanity, and this is from so called leftist liberals. The same ones who support BLM, but viciously oppose any new development, especially anything that with affordable housing units.

Truth is a lot of lefties become conservatives when they the issues affect them.

Turkey_Titty_city,

losing your career and being sued into oblivion by the kids parents sounds like a real good choice!

Turkey_Titty_city,

proper gun ownership turns you gay tho

Did the "American dream" change over time, or was it just my interpretation of it?

So growing up, I had this idea that the American dream was about that if you put in an honest amount of work, you would be rewarded with a good life. This would mean you would be able to take care of yourself and your family, afford a car and a house. In my view, working one job would probably be enough....

Turkey_Titty_city,

the dream is well and alive for those in the top 10%. They are the ones who are culturally dominate. All the writers in the media, etc. As well as the doctors, lawyers, business people, etc. They live in a exclusive bubble and they don't associate with the bottom 90%.

They see the rest of us as just lazy idiots who should have 'worked harder' like they did, by having parents that can afford to pay for your housing and education into adulthood.

Turkey_Titty_city,

Wealthy people don't allow their kids to fail. They bail them out with money.

Turkey_Titty_city,

because normal people can't afford to golf.

they can afford golf clubs, however.

only people my entire life i have never known who golfed regular were rich business dudes, and their sons.

lots of people have golf clubs, but golf on a golf course like once every two years or less.

Turkey_Titty_city,

Massachusetts turning the inmates gay but allowing them to call family for free.

Turkey_Titty_city,

because the us govt doesn't give a shit about monopolies.

EU might get up in their shit though.

Turkey_Titty_city,

FF games have been crap since 10. I bought 15 on discount and was completely disappointed at how bland and lifeless the entire experience was. They have taken the series too far into MMO land, and need to go back to focusing on a good story with good characters, rather than a 'open world' with fancy graphics and lifeless characters.

13 was also a incomprehensible joke of a story, which they padded out to become even more absurd with the sequels.

Turkey_Titty_city,

the open web isn't as profitable as the walled garden where we can shovel ads and algorithms at unwitting consumers to extract money from them.

More Baby Boomers are living alone. One reason why: ‘gray divorce’ (www.cnn.com)

The number of older Americans living alone is on the rise. Nearly 16 million people aged 65 and older in the US lived solo in 2022, three times as many who lived alone in that age group in the 1960s. And as Baby Boomers age, that number is expected to grow even more, raising big questions about the country’s future.
