A New York judge sentenced a woman who pleaded guilty to fatally shoving an 87-year-old Broadway singing coach onto a Manhattan sidewalk to six months more in prison than the eight years that had been previously reached in a plea deal.
No dumbass, murder has to be premeditated and/or intentional.
IANAL but in American law, second degree murder can be intentional without being premeditated. For example, a bar fight that ends in someone dying. There is also voluntary and involuntary manslaughter (in the later, the person does not intend to kill the victim). Different states define the different degrees and types differently.
One thing nobody has commented on - how that article slips in a seemingly positive mention of Nestlé (they own the cafe that uses plant milks). That raised my eyebrows.
I really like Califia Farms barista blend oatmilk or their oatmilk creamer. The blend one is perfect for coffee and tea, just slightlybetter than the creamer. I'm in the US, so not sure how easy to get outside of here.
This is tangential to the conversation but have you heard of Radio Garden? You can listen to radio stations around the world. As for "good radio stations," I'm partial to college radio stations like 90.7 FM in NYC. They have a lot of freedom with their playlists.
Pick a hotel that doesn't have carpeting or rugs, has metal framed beds, and if possible has encasements around both the mattress and the boxspring (an encasement is a fabric cover that completely covers the mattress or boxspring and is zippered closed). In other words, less places for the bugs to hide.
When you check in, examine the seams all around the mattress and boxspring (especially if they don't have encasements) for dark brown spots.
There are probably other better tips online. Good luck!
@wordshaper Report back on how the trip went! My family and I actually had plans to visit Paris in the spring but now we're thinking of going somewhere else (we're literally Googling different destinations along with the word bedbugs to see what comes up).

I think it's just playing into people's fantasies of power. Look at how much of.our entertainment is about ultra wealthy people (the romcom billionaire who falls for a humble working class woman, the rappers who brag about getting bags, etc.) despite most Americans living humbly or struggling. It may also be because most people in the US grew up on fairy tales and Disney movies involving royalty (ETA: Now that i think about it these children's entertainments sound like propaganda).
Thank you for this (and other horror movie) write ups. I've grown to avoid most horror movies (I've become really sensitive to them aka more chicken), but I do still find them fascinating. And based on your recap and review I am never ever going to see this one.
It sounds like WC was going to excess to make some jaded person deliberately uncomfortable. Like, out-grindhousing grindhouse.
Yes, that's my pick. To be exact, I want "low-level telekinesis" aka mutant luck power like the superhero Domino. Just walking around being a casual badass, barely registering the danger I'm avoiding.
I think Stan Lee said that being lucky is the best superpower.
Travel website Booking.com has left many hotel operators and other partners across the globe thousands of dollars out of pocket for months on end, blaming the lack of payment on a “technical issue”....
What alternatives are there to Booking.com for travel in Europe and Asia? Is it better to use the site,.locate a hotel you want to use, and then try to contact the hotel directly through their own website (if they have one)? I've heard of Agoda (IIRC) for travel in Asia but Booking.com is the one I've heard recommended for Europe, especially for short term home rentals. ETA: Thanks for the tips!
He wasn't punished. He was "found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity" and placed in a state psychiatric hospital. That's not punishment, that is treatment and care. That's also why he is being released - they have determined that he is stable enough to be back in society. (I have my doubts that he will remain stable without being in a psychiatric hospital but I guess we'll all see.)
