Very_Bad_Janet,

I'm American so I thought I didn't know any Black British historical figures. Thanks, OP, for posting about this because it's inspiring me to educate myself on the subject.

Very_Bad_Janet,

I'm a woman and I liked this advice.

My tip: This might sound obvious but I'd have you wear a bright color, like red, in the first photo in your profile. It will catch the eye and stand out a bit. This is not my original thought - I got it from someone who was describing her experience on dating apps and what worked best for her. You want to catch someone's eye while they are swiping quickly through pictures.

Very_Bad_Janet,

I have to admit that's a nice stick. I thought he was joking but it's actually perfect. Like, platonic ideal of a stick.

Very_Bad_Janet,

Are you married and do you have any children together? Do you consider her or yourself traditional in relationships (however you define traditional)?

Very_Bad_Janet,

I asked because I believe marriage and children can add pressures to a relationship, and may test right wing beliefs.

For example: What if your wife changed her mind about being a SAHM and wanted to continue working after having a child? How would you both handle household chores and parenting duties?

More examples: If your wife became pregnant but it was an ectopic pregnancy, would you support her having an abortion? Would you support an abortion if the baby was diagnosed with anencephaly while still in the womb?

Would you use IVF if you had trouble conceiving? Would you use birth control to plan the size of your family?

It's easy to see eye to eye about hypothetical situations but maybe less easy when it's real life.

An ectopic pregnancy would risk her life and her future fertility. Babies with anencephaly do not survive for long after birth, being stillborn (around 75% of them) or dying within hours or days; this pregnancy wouldn't risk the mother's life, though, but would be traumatic.

Without googling the definition of ectopic, we’d likely abort anything that put her at significant risk, or in the case of a major defect that would ruin all three of our lives.

States with very strict abortion laws or where abortion is illegal would prevent your wife from having an abortion in the your and my scenarios. She might be forced to delay the abortion until she ruptured in the ectopic scenario, or be forced to give birth to a dead baby or.one who died in a few hours. There are other dangerous scenarios when an abortion would be the humane option. This is something to keep in mind when voting or supporting candidates. ETA: I didn't mean this to sound like a lecture. I was just pointing this all out because you actually don't sound ring wing based on how you described your beliefs.

Very_Bad_Janet,

If you are convicted of a felony and have your sentence commuted, will you still have that felony conviction on your record?

Very_Bad_Janet,

Hey OP, it sounds like you've worked hard to make positive changes in your life. After a lot of self activation like that it's not uncommon to feel some side effects - namely a bit of anxiety or depression. A therapist would be beneficial.

Very_Bad_Janet,

OP was clearly talking about BDSM. Now he's too embarrassed to correct us and is continuing with this whole communities / magazine charade.

Very_Bad_Janet,

I agree it may be regional. Seltzer is very popular in NYC, where I am. I once overhead flight attendants on a flight discussing how much seltzer they had to have on hand because they were headed to NYC.

Very_Bad_Janet,

Thanks for the replies. You've convinced me not to try it.

An Alabama woman was imprisoned for endangering her fetus. She gave birth in a jail shower

But over the next seven months of incarceration for “chemical endangerment” in the Etowah county detention center (ECDC), Caswell was denied regular access to prenatal visits, even as officials were aware her pregnancy was high-risk due to her hypertension and abnormal pap smears, according to a lawsuit filed on Friday against the county and the sheriff’s department. She was also denied her prescribed psychiatric medication and slept on a thin mat on the concrete floor of the detention center for her entire pregnancy.

In October, when her water broke and she pleaded to be taken to a hospital, her lawyer says, officials told her to “sleep it off” and “wait until Monday” to deliver – two days away.

During nearly 12 hours of labor, staff gave her only Tylenol for her pain, the suit says, allegedly telling her to “stop screaming”, to “deal with the pain” and that she was “not in full labor”. Caswell lost amniotic fluid and blood and was alone and standing up in a jail shower when she ultimately delivered her child, according to the complaint and her medical records. She nearly bled to death, her lawyers say.

So, jailed for endangering a fetus but not given prenatal care while in jail and forced to give birth in a jail shower when her labor signs were ignored - all of which actually endangers the fetus they are so concerned about. They don't care about the fetus, they just hate women and want to punish them for having sex. It couldn't be clearer.

Very_Bad_Janet,

The article strongly suggests that the maternity unit closings are due to the financials, not Alabama 's recent laws against abortion. I wish they had explored these new laws as a cause (anti abortion laws was the primary cause for closings in Idaho).

Very_Bad_Janet,

He also reneged on deals he had promised the Democrats. Why would they trust him in the future?

Very_Bad_Janet,

His Democrat opponent did release research about Santos but basically most news orgs, esp the major ones, ignored it at the time. I'm in NYC and Republican candidates tend to be ignored by news orgs unless it is for President, Governor, or Mayor.

Local news organizations did raise questions in their coverage of Santos. One column in The North Shore Leader noted the eye-popping increase in Santos’s net worth from less than $5,000 to more than $11 million over a period of two short years. The piece even quoted an anonymous Republican leader as saying, “Are we being played as extras in ‘The Talented Mr. Santos’?” And the DCCC’s research memo on Santos outlined many of the allegations made in the Times report. It noted the IRS’s lack of knowledge of the congressman-elect’s animal-rescue charity and raised questions about his financial status. The document does, however, list Santos’s educational and professional claims without question. The bulk of the 87-page research document leans into Santos’s ties to Trump and his antiabortion stance.

Zimmerman says his campaign “was unrelenting in getting people’s attention” but that, ultimately, “I think part of the problem, quite frankly, was everyone saw this as not a competitive seat. They didn’t see the Republican tidal wave coming in New York, and so they didn’t focus on the race.” Jacobs, too, echoed this sentiment. “Santos didn’t win the race based on his campaign or who he is,” he said. “Like many other Republicans, particularly on Long Island, [Santos] won because of the view that this was an issue-driven election and the issue this year was crime.” Indeed, a red wave did run through New York on November 8, where even Sean Patrick Maloney—the person tasked with steering Democrats to another majority—lost his own race.

Very_Bad_Janet,

Are all Republican politicians stunt queens?

BTW you're welcome. I had to do four different Captcha tests 😆

Very_Bad_Janet,

Are there people out there flipping cars like they do with houses? Maybe tell those people.

I've read if people buying new Teslas (with some kind of credit for buying an EV), driving it for a year or so, selling it for more than they paid and then repeating the process. Not sure if this is a viable strategy anymore (don't know if Tesla has that much demand anymore).

Very_Bad_Janet,

If they sell their current car first, what do they use in the interim? Most places in the US do not have any public transportation to speak of, and those that do are not reliable or frequent enough to get anywhere on time.

Very_Bad_Janet,

It's called "contextual commerce." Article about a product has a link to said product; if you click and make a purchase, the news site makes a little money. Thus, incentivizing the new site to publish more and more articles about products.

Very_Bad_Janet,

Hyaluronic acid. Makes my skin drier and brings out fine lines in cold, dry winter weather, no matter how much hydration I use and how thick an occlusive layer i yop it with. I now reserve it for hot humid weather only.

Very_Bad_Janet,

I prefer "content creators. " Sametimes they can be very educational or entertaining. (I watch a lot of comedy, travel, and home workout content.)
